I took a plane with EasyJet an English company 2 days ago and this was my first exposure to mainstream crypto in the civilised world. I sat down on my seat on the plane ready to take off. As usual, there were a few magazines in front of me to choose from. I open the EasyJet February 2018 edition and that was my first exposure to a blockchain ad on a piece of paper.

oddly enough for me, it's about football. I have no interest whatsoever in that sport, however, the future of that game would be on the blockchain? really? it's doing fine without it to me...

I did look for this football token STARS and steemit has a few articles that didn't really got any attention wrote by some (25) rep a few month back.

Will this crypto change the soccer financial ecosystem ?

I haven't found any backup articles from the crypto community about this token. Their official website has no links to social media accounts, nothing about a github page or smart contract.
If you have put money in this token you can consider your money gone. But how can a token with such a poor communication and backup support from the crypto world can end up affording an ad to scam more people in an Easyjet magazine, it's a shit token that most of us would consider as a scam! Easyjet here you have to do research before putting shitcoin in your magazine!

Then I continued my reading of this paper just because I had nothing else to read anyway and when I reached the middle of the magazine I found this :

A bitcoin guide! mainstream crypto right there!

Thats 2 more ads for you. covesting and plutus 2 startups of the crypto world.

Covesting is a Gibraltar startup so it's no surprise to see them on an EasyJet magazine, the concept is about copying what experience traders are doing to gain the same kind of success.

Investors from around the world can compare the performance of hundreds of professional crypto asset managers, mirror their trades automatically and profit together.

The official website is more like a proper ICO website with links to their social media pages and where to get COV tokens in exchanges websites and the list of people involve in this project. They are listed on Coinmarketcap and a few ico benchmark website have been reviewing them. To be honest that ICO didn't really do that great to me. The token has been falling since it's release and was quite expansive to start with. This is not a scam, but maybe an overvalued ICO, the token has been in the downtrend since its release on the market, the January correction has to do with it but maybe they are struggling to find exposure in this very competitive world, that would explain this ad in the EasyJet magazine.
The return on this ICO so far is very low almost nonexistent and shows you that in the ICO world ideas are good but it doesn't necessarily reflect the success of your investment.

Plutus is a project started in 2015. Quite old, sounds like dusty isn't it ?

Yet just another Debit card project, They claim paying anywhere with a debit card but the project is still in beta.
Don't get fooled this is centralised system even if they like to put out there the hype word "decentralized", this is a middleman job.

Do you remember when people talk about bitcoin and say that it "get rid off" the middleman?
Plutus is the middleman coming back scheme. Their Dapp is not open source and their system is centralised, so if I were you I would stay away from this. We are working for a decentralised open source world, cryptocurrencies are there for us to manage our assets ourselves, however, we will see many attempts for the middleman to come back!

So here we have the Bread wallet. It's an open source HD wallet and by HD I don't mean High Definition alright o_0
no HD here stands for :

Hierarchical Deterministic. All HD wallets use 12-word master seed keys. Each time this seed is appended by a counter at the end and is used to derive seemingly unlimited new Bitcoin addresses hierarchically and sequentially.

it's easy to use as long as you keep the seeds safe of course.
Bread comes with quite a lot of competition, like Mycelium, Jaxx and electrum and also hardware wallets like trezor and the famous ledger nano.

Bread has seen its market cap dropping from $101k to $57 with a coin who was at $1.69 and now is $0.79c. A bargain? I don't think so...
The project is not bad but again it lives in a very busy competitive world and has yet to find its place.
It only trades on 2 exchanges so far.
I wouldn't go crazy on this ICOs...and crypto are exploding right now and to get through this jungle of projects it's going to ask the Bread team a lot of work but as a steemian you know that right ;-) your content is a bit like an ICO trying to raise funds for itself in this ocean of articles !

This little tour of the EasyJet guide to crypto comes to an end with this last page :

tokencard yet another debit card project nothing special here...

This easyjet guide hasn't covered the cryptocurrency world that I know, but that's fine, I would have been very surprised if it did, to be honest. Also, we couldn't finish this guide without a proper FOMO message to push the reader to get into those projects aiming to reach uneducated mainstream people for them to survive 2018.

Get in there quick you are losing money everyday get some crypto !!!

Typical sale man strategy to bring urgency in the game don't get fooled by this cheap seller BS.

It tells us as well that crypto is finally getting in everyone's hand and there will be a lot of hype about products that will interfere with your freedom. The banks will try to get as many people into a "banking crypto world" because at the end of the day only a minority of us stand for a decentralised world. Most peeps don't even know what centralised means so it's about educating our friends and families that it comes down too.

Have you been exposed to some crypto mainstream ads? let me know in a comment below!

I don't want to see this kind of rubbish educating people but I have no say in this matter so at least I have steemit this blog this platform to share my opinion with you guys so let me know what you think in a comment below and do the right thing for helping me to grow,

cheers

wow didn't expect to see that really, but it was bound to happen xx

yes for sure, ads stay ads even for crypto SPECIALLY for crypto.

It's gotta be a good sign anyway :) and someone has to invest in that crappy ICOs, haha

there can't be only winners ;-)

I've observed similar article and I reckon they want folk to head to rocky waters when the decide to invest. And if it seems that 'middle-men' are popping up then it's just win-win for them. This easy-jet article is much like things I have seen and watched in the uk. Truth but nothing like the real picture. Which leads me to wonder why someone would choose to give cryto such a poor effort. If I wanted to be taken seriously in my later career then I wouldn't write something as insidious as this. But you and I know that this article is not an accident and it's intention is to mis-lead it's readers. I honestly think the Bitcoin lost half it's value in order to allow folk to feel confident in investing again. I heard loads of people say that they were annoyed for 'missing the btc boat' as the price hit $20,000 then it crashed to half the value and people are willing to throw more in the pot. I'm very suspicious of all this but I see the hope people have in the decentralized reality. It would be a good place to live, that's for sure.
Great post, again mate. Very interesting read.

thank you for your comment, yes this correction was bound to happen if you look at bitcoin history we got to see even rather bigger corrections in volume size. This place to live is around the corner, whatever prediction peeps are saying one thing is sure distributed ledger and decentralised systems are here to stay.
thank for passing by @article61 ;-)

Good post. We will be speaking to a number of our clients about crypto and the opportunity and dangers it brings.

Information and education will be so important for new comers

My respect for easyJet just went thru the roof
