We can't deny the very big appetite of every Filipino people, when it comes in eating. You can see the great evidence in a big or even a very simple gatherings or event, of either a family, friendship, relatives or any other groups. Where there are some various kinds of foods in the table , that they are trying to share with each other, even though the most of us came from a very poor family, like us, we never show any kinds of selfishness to others, instead we can share everything what is in the table. That's how we enjoy the food. Because of that habit of a Filipino, we tried to make it more enjoyable and fun, by a boodle fight. I don't know if the boodle fight is also practicing in other country, but here in the Philippines, it is very popular.
Boodle fight is somehow like a military eating, where the various types of foods are arranged in a big banana leaves, it can either be a sea foods, such as shrimp, crabs, fish or it can either be a variations of meaty cooked food, like grilled or pork and chicken and many more, and of course the most important, which is the rice at the middle.
This unique method of sharing what's in the table is one of the trademarks of being a Filipino, it is still being practiced in many kinds of occasions, in a restaurant, especially in feast day and many places with Filipino people, some of prominent family here in the Philippines also perform this practice, like the big politicians, even the president of the Philippines.
The essence of doing this boodle fight, is to strengthen the bonding with each other, all of people in the table are going to be more closer in each other while they are eating. It just symbolizes being "maka masang Pilipino" a FIlipino word meaning, humanity act of a Filipino, while caring and sharing with each other, that can be showed through the style of eating.
