Making Extra Money with Garage Sale and Goodwill Finds

I love the show "American Pickers."

Ever since my childhood, I've always enjoyed the search for treasure, even once digging a large hole in the alley with the help of my neighbor because of my certainty of a buried chest with gold doubloons . Of course nothing existed there, but the dream made the effort worth it. Today, I serve as a Student Pastor, but the desire to find "treasures" still prompts me to visit our local Goodwill and weekend garage sales on a regular basis. I look specifically for products incredibly undervalued in hopes to make a profit on them online or in a booth in a local flea market. In the last few weeks, I've made some very good finds.

I've learned by watching other re-sellers on YouTube some key items to look for when digging through second hand goods. One of those items is vintage Bibles. As the all-time number one best seller, I never considered the fact that people are looking for gently used Bibles to add to their collections and study shelves. Recently, I bought a leather bound Thompson Chain reference Bible at a local Thrift Store for $1.00. I resold the Bible on Ebay for $25 plus shipping. That's a very good return on a dollar investment.

Another item to keep in mind is prescription glasses. Most times people won't buy the glasses for the prescription lenses, but for the stylish frames. As with many items today, there seems to be a return to the vintage and retro styles. It's not uncommon to buy a pair of used glasses for a buck or two and sell them for a thirty to fifty dollar profit. Once again, a great return on a minimal investment.

As I continue to submit articles to Steemit, I will regularly give insights as to how one can utilize venues like Goodwill and garage sales to pocket extra cash every month. And who can't use some extra money? Am I right?
