I wrote a post some time ago about the potential power of engagement on social media - how a simple positive comment on another persons post can lead to who knows where. In the case of my last post it ultimately led to a 6 week job traveling around Indonesia to film for the Indonesian Ministry Of Tourism.
Here's the link to that post if anyone wants to read it.....

Todays post is again about a great opportunity that came about simply by a like and a comment on Instagram. It was a cool looking electric bicycle with a skateboard rack attached. I cant remember what I said but one thing led to another and suddenly I was meeting the owner of Cooler King - a pretty awesome dude that had created the coolest electric bikes I have ever seen and just happened to be in Phuket for a couple of weeks to promote his bikes. He had only two with him and one of them had a skateboard rack on. We made a deal that I would provide the skateboards, he would provide the bikes and between us we would share the cost of a photographer and get some cool promo material for each of us.:))
Here's what followed!
First few shots we rode the bike up and down the beach at Rawai. I like this area because it was in front of longtail boats tied up at the beach and gave it a very authentic feeling of being in Thailand.
Then we moved up to a quiet area that had a winding road with very little traffic on it. The bikes were just fantastic. I had never ridden an electric bike before and I was immediately impressed with the amount of power that the battery generated. It felt as fast as a small motorcycle but completely silent and with a weight not much more than a mountain bike.
After that we headed down to a quiet area where our other model could try long boarding for the 1st time. She was hooked immediately as we were hooked on the electric bike!
We finished up at the beach for an ice cream and a beer. The bikes are just amazing and as soon as you ride it you want it. I was tempted to buy one but they were a little pricey for me - Covid belt had been tightened for this photographer...:)
So as I have said before - never underestimate the power of social media engagement. You never know what may come of it. The Cooler King bikes were just awesome and I was so lucky to get to spend the day riding around on them and having a great time all from a like and a comment!
