When is the Reset?

My mind was full of pantry inventories and survival recipes as I went to sleep yesterday evening. I considered how people would group together to survive and how much time would be required to reset social life. There are thousands of variables.

The resulting chaos is likely to be horrible. Death, destruction, riots and starvation can permeate peaceful society in less than a week. Any reset of consequence will be before most people can or will prepare.

My preparation has taken many years. I realize preparation is an endless process. As families grow and babies join us, our need for a bigger safety net follows. Over-preparation is impossible.

I expect a banking failure will begin the process. This is speculation. An ‘act of god’ catastrophe might just as well trip us up. Therefore, exact timing is impossible.

Life’s fragility also means that I (or you) might not live to participate in a recognized historical event. I have often suspected my preparation is laughable. Yesterday’s sacrifice might have been personally pointless.

I will not be disappointed if I have been the ‘fool on the hill’ all these years. I can imagine my grandchildren thanking me for a bowl of rice and beans.

Hunger is wicked. Children did not ask to be born into a life of pain. A reset will be painful for the youngsters who exist unsuspecting.
