In the opening, the Dow Jones Industrial Index increased by 113.37 points (0.49 percent) to 23.110.81. Thus, for the first time in the history of the index, the day was over 23,000 points. The Dow Jones Index rose above the 23,000 mark in trading hours yesterday, but finished the day below this level.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index increased by 3.54 points (0.14 percent) to 2.562.90 points, and the Nasdaq Technology Index increased by 7.20 points (0.11 percent) to 6.630.85 points.
Thus, each of the three indices began at record levels in the sun.
