I feel as though a true discussion about the true modern version of capitalism has been neglected within the crowdfunding world. Personally I believe in free market economics in every instance, as I feel that people need motivation to produce great things within the world. Sometimes those things are external works of beauty and sometimes those things are internal things of beauty. Whatever the case, people need a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or else most of humanity might not leave the couch.
Even though we are supposed to have a "free market", I think most people who have been in business for themselves very long that nothing about our system is all that "free". In many respects we are already in a quasi socialist state, as our tax rates are ungodly and the regulations strangling small businesses are off the charts. Yet I don't think fighting the man is a real answer... Many have tried, many have failed, so that being said, how do we deal with these mountains of red tape? Well as Buckminster Fuller said “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
This is why Crowdfunding can succeed where other economic models have failed. As in essence the whole system is created around cutting out the middle man and focusing humanities attention back upon the root issue of cooperation towards the construction of a nobler version of reality.
Being that true capitalism hasn't existed since the early to mid 1800's in this country, (as market rigging has been happening at least since the great depression) I think we need to look at new ways of inducing a free market environment within a totally new economic paradigm. Whose to say we can't invent our own new economic-ism? We can call it crowdfund-ism if we want... It doesn't matter, we just need to get out of this cubicle of the mind that modern economists have us stuck in.
Even though the roots of the mass psychological problems occurring on our society are directly linked to collectivism, in an economic sense theres just no getting around it. Try as you might, people will still want to huddling together to meet their own ego approval needs, so you can't fight that. What you can fight is determining the reason why they huddle together. This is where Crowdfunding comes in. if we are able to channel and reform our inner emotional desires into a societal model that encourages individualistic enterprise we will be well on our way to a healthier world. This whole beehive, trickle up economic mentality has to be abandoned. We will never have personal fiscal security in this country until we start creating it for and by ourselves. That unique type of sea shift starts within our own minds. Crowdfunding creates a unique form of entrepreneurial courage as the business owner can get positive reinforcement for their business and it's social ideals within a short window of time. A process that used to take years, can now be pursued in months or weeks depending on the complexity of the launch. ideas from outside sources and allows us to thrive in a smaller independent enterprise, allowing us to take our vision straight to the people.
Best,
Austin
