Econ in the Memes: Why Do Salads Cost More Than Hamburgers?

Real quick

Just taking this at face value... a lot of people will tell you the obvious reason is because the costs to bring a salad to market are much higher than the cost of a burger. While that may be true, it's not the cause of the price difference. Prices are determined by the individuals voluntarily opening their wallets. If a salad cost five times as much to bring to market and they were sold for $35 but nobody wanted to spend that much on a salad (opting to buy the individual ingredients instead), guess what, you're not going to see $35 salads on any shelves or restaurants.
