After a long time, I read a book on Economics- Sense and Solidarity - Jholawala Economics for everyone by Jean Dreze. The book was an optimistic read in the current world of chaos. I always thought of Economics the Physics of the social sciences. They both are not only numbers but have their own geometries that bond them with emotions and gravitation- a mysterious force. Jean Dreze essays point out research vs actions that means number vs emotion. Emotion generates actions. Plain field work, filled with numbers can not generate action against unjust, poverty, child labor, children's health and education issues. Reading this book definitely changed my view of "Jholawala activism". I was also kind of biased with that particular appearance while during the 80's.
