A thoughtful argument against a ceasefire in Gaza, based on a bottom line that Hamas must be removed, but not flinching from Israel's - particularly Netenyahu's - errors.
I honestly don't know what to think. I believe Hamas is not destructive to Israel but to its own people. It's a corrupt authoritarian death cult, loving even the death of its own people.
But what cost to innocent Palestinians does their elimination entail? Does Israel have a clear strategy, a well-designed next move, and a constructive end-game, or are they making it up as they go along?
Innocents always pay an unacceptably high price in war. Even though I think the US was on the right side in WWII, I question our bombing of civilian populations. If we did it, is it any worse that the Israelis do it? Or should the scenes from Gaza bring home to us how illegitimate the fire bombings of Dresden and Tokyo were?
