Headline CPI inflation came in at 0.2% month to month in September (2.2% annualized).
Core CPI inflation came in at 0.3% month to month (3.8% annualized).
A little above expectations.
Shelter inflation came in low thankfully. Gasoline prices declined.
The Fed mainly focuses on PCE rather than CPI, and PCE has been trending at or below the Fed's inflation target. We'll get the next PCE report at the end of the month.
Nothing too surprising in this report. Probably makes a 25 basis point cut all but certain.
