Are American livers the real barometer of how the economy is doing?

We are told by the mainstream that the economy is doing so well. President Trump even proclaimed that things never were better when talking about the unemployment numbers.

If that is the case, how come so many people are dying of liver disease? This is a sign of people literally drinking themselves to death.

According to one study, using this barometer, things never were worse in the United States. Over the past 20 years, deaths due to cirrhosis and liver cancer increased by 65%. This in an age when technology has helped to slow, and even reverse, many cancer rates.

Here is a graph provided by statista.com. It shows the death rates associated with liver disease jumping a great deal since the 2009 economic lows. Perhaps the economic recovery is not as stated.

This chart also shows that the two biggest jumps are in California and Lousiana, two states on different ends of the economic spectrum. It could show that no matter what the economic environment, there are a lot of people suffering in each area.

Most concerning is the rapid increase in liver disease among young males. This is something that normally takes decades to emerge. The fact that young men are starting to suffer from this shows that alcohol consumption radically increased.
