There are many ways for workers to own the means of production in a capitalist system.

The Marxist/Leftist argument that workers must seize the means of production doesn't make sense as a critique for a capitalist system, especially in modern times. There is an entire industry (several, in fact) whose purpose is to help anyone who wants the means of production to acquire them. Why not take advantage of that industry to command the means of production?* The only answer I ever got was "well, I don't want to become an exploiter of labor," which is an incoherent response.

The Marxist command to seize the means of production only makes sense in an authoritarian, rather than a liberalized, world. Perhaps that is why Marxism took root in authoritarian Tsarist Russia as he languished in obscurity in relatively more market-oriented societies.

*It's also worth noting that some firms who explicitly give workers control of the means of production, like Uber, are villified by the Left
