This question came up on the @tribesteemup discord page a week or so ago. Someone was wanting to support people who are making a difference and changing the world. I realized I wasn’t quite sure what that meant. As I began to think, that can mean a whole lot of things.
Of course I think about people like @eco-alex and @mountainjewel and so many others who are sharing their vast knowledge of how we can live more in harmony with the earth. Considering the current state of our planet, this is clearly incredibly worthy.

What about @thegreens who is empowering women in Cameroon with a beautiful business model that brings abundance while also dealing with waste issues?
My beautiful @trucklifefamily who is so passionate about the importance of loving, appreciating, and nurturing our bodies that the message is beginning to filter into my dreams. I told a man in my dream how much I love my beautiful belly that grew and nurtured four amazing babies and now serves as the squishy place for them to lay their heads when they are weary. Think about how much different the world would be if we all truly loved and took care of ourselves.
People like @canadian-coconut and @markwhittam (@familyprotection) who are working so hard to bring to light the stories of the abuses of social service systems all around the world are also worthy of the title of world changer, as are the mamas like @misslasvegas sharing their painful stories so everyone will know the truth.
Danny and Hannah Greenberg and Mimsy Sadofsky, all founders of the original Sudbury Valley School, are some of my favorite world changers. These beautiful beings completely revolutionized the face of education, giving children the opportunity to grow and be without coercion.

What about the peacemakers out there working around and under oppressive governments to find peaceful resolution to violent conflicts? What about those working to feed the hungry by bringing sustainable solutions to devastated areas? And the healers working to ease the pain of the mentally and physically injured? And those working to educate others on the beauty of moving beyond governments? And those pushing every day to dismantle the structures upholding racism, sexism, homophobia, capitalism, the patriarchy?
Goodness. There’s a lot of work to do. Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough. This is a really easy trap to fall into. The number of major issues we are facing right now is daunting, and the opportunities to make a difference in any of those areas are numerous.
Here’s the thing. You are one person. You are one drop in the ocean, but we are the ocean. We have to work together as a web of community, and we have to empower one another to do our parts. At the risk of sounding ridiculously cheezy, we all came to this earth with a gift to share. We all have a piece of this puzzle that when put together will make an even more beautiful and way funner earth. We need to empower one another to figure out what our piece is and support each other in our sacred work. We must encourage our brothers and sisters and make sure everyone knows they are enough, that none of us need to do it all or do it alone. We must change the world together.
I am a mama. I am not a perfect mama, but I give it all I have, and I have put a lot of thought, effort, and heart into it. I screw up often, but I am committed to giving a lot of my energy to helping my gorgeous babies who honored me by choosing me as their mother to grow into the fullest and most joyous version of themselves. And I want to help other families in this sacred work as well. Just think of the beautiful power of millions of young people raised in a loving, nurturing, trusting, free way. Think of all they will change. Right now, that is my piece. And it’s enough.
So, tell me your piece. What is your work? I honor what you are doing, and I want you to know that it’s enough.
Much love, y’all!

you know what.. and this is for real, being a good mama is the first thing that we should do.. before we go out and save the world.. because our children can go out and shine and do amazing things if they get the nurturing and emotional support they need.. they are priority #1 in my opinion!
i can HARDLY believe that working mothers are given just a few weeks off work when they have a child.. utterly unbelievable!!!
p.s my VP is on the floor so ill upvote tomorrow <3

Thanks so much for this, Alex. I can just see how bright my kids are gonna shine, and when I look out at all the troubled people who didn't get the love and attention they needed, it's just sad. Paid time off needs to be a super high priority. I don't know how we work that out in an anarchistic way, but I know it needs to be a priority. No worries on upvoting! I'll be here!

Yes, what does it mean to change the world? I agree that changing the world can mean just doing your part in a local context and does not have to literally change the whole world. But together in community with each other we can be a part of the big world wide change.
PS You might want to update your reference to Linda and Mark with @familyprotection (@canadian-coconut and @markwhittam) DS

This is such a beautifully written piece, and what a wonderful message to share. It’s so true that we’re each a drop in an ocean, and together we can accomplish so much. The rising tide lifts all ships, as they say. :)

Yes!!! It definitely starts with Mums... and Dads. Those that raise children to be emotionally stable, valued, beautiful amazing beings who can change the world.
Me? I'm an educator. I try to get students to be open minded, questioning, compassionate, peaceful. I try to care and support them. And i try to push
in the classroom. Is it enough? Dont know. But like you, its the best i can do.

I believe raising and educating children to be the most important thing we can do. I don't think anything comes above this. Of course others are called to other work, and it's all important, but this is definitely the bit I'm most passionate about.

great write up mama, this is such an important matter, if everyone woke up to the reality of change, to the fact that we each have a part to play in bringing that about, well that would be amazing. We need to come together and you are so not sounding cheesy, I write like this all the time. It is so true we are each a drop in the ocean but when we come together we are the ocean and we can create ripples or waves, it is up to us. I'm all for making huge waves. I m all for helping people to realize how amazing they are and the potential they have to be part of that change. We can choose to lay dormant or be active, I choose to be active and I am so happy to contact with you in that way, you and all the other wonderful active folk on here. xxxxx

It's true. So many people feel so hopeless and helpless and overwhelmed, but we only have to do our part. Perhaps our biggest task is to let other people know they're an important piece of the puzzle. I am so happy to finally feel like I have found my tribe.

Yes! We are all the ocean.
My piece is making sure my kids know they are loved and wanted. Everything else is extra.

It might seem insignificant but each tiny drop counts as it has its role and helps raising a new wave. More drops, more chances to be heard and work towards change.
