"What does it mean to 'Be Spiritual' and do you have to act a certain way to be a spiritual person?-EcoTrain question of the week"

We are all Spiritual beings.

Some of us ignore it and there are others that have forgotten it.

But there are some in this world that are aware of an unbalance on the earth, who see and feel the injustice being done. Who want to go beyond the idea of self, which strives towards individual salvation, this sense of self isolates us and makes us easy targets for whatever fad is present in our society.

We are living in a world which teaches domination over nature and as a result we have become alienated from ourselves and from the natural world. This attitude of domination has given some humans the license to pollute and destroy our home without a seconds thought. This is the time of the ego.

When we look back in our history there was a time when all our ancestors lived closer to the earth. They celebrated the seasons, used them as a guide in planting their crops, in harvesting their food and inturn that relationship kept them nourished and alive. They were part of a cycle that all things in nature are. They worked with the earth, the helped nourish the soil and in turn they too were nourished.

To be Spiritual is to take responsibility for how we live our lives.
It is to move away from this 'I' egotistical culture and on to the 'WE ' culture.
It is to reaffirm our place in nature and not to see ourselves as above or separate from it.
It is to commit ourselves to finding ways to heal the ecological mess we are in.
It is to open our hearts, to connect with ourselves. and every other living thing.

When we open up our hearts we will feel the oneness with everything in nature, we will feel whole and we will feel healthier. We will begin to identify with other humans and grow and mature in a way that we can identify with other non human beings as well. When we talk about helping everyone we include not just humans but, animals, trees, whole ecosystems.

To me being spiritual doesnot have anything to do with religion. For others that is where they feel their spirituality lies. But how can so many different faiths bring people together when throughout history all it has done is created a huge divide? For me, to be Spiritual is to be connected to all and everything, with no hierarchy.

We are a global community, we must work together, inspire one another, towards building a better future. This certainly doesnot mean paying big bucks to some Teacher to bring us on a journey to our Spiritual Self or to help us awaken to our Spiritual Being. Their is no hierarchy.

Do you have to Act a certain way to be a spiritual person?, well that really depends on the person, some like to dress a certain way and join their hands together alot, or raise their arms up to the sky and look all mystical. Some like to talk and talk about the idea of being spiritual and how awakened they are. To me that is not being spiritual there is way too much ego happening for my liking.

We are blessed with a beautiful planet and have so much to be thankful for, when we give our thanks and show our gratitude we connect with our spiritual self. You want to act Spiritual, then get involved in Permaculture. Do something that benefits us all.
