Edmund Halley was born on the 8th November in 1656 in Haggerston, London.
It is reported that, Halley and Isaac Newton had their early education together in a school there, and they were very close friends. Later he entered the Queen’s College, Oxford for higher education.
Halley is best known for his study of comets and the realization that the comets of 1531, 1607 and 1682 were non other than the same object.
He predicted the return of the comet, which now bears his name, in 1758, and the prediction was correct.
Edmund Halley passed away on the 14th January 1742 in Greenwich, London.
