Introduction

The sensitivity of adolescents has always focused on issues of aesthetic and social order, also demonstrating their innovative capacity. However, in the present moment, attitudes of lack of criticism and imitation often predominate, with results that justify the need to opt for a new lifestyle.

In the present study, we will review some aspects related to fashions and trends in adolescence.

The so-called "Cult of the body".

Fashion no longer only requires dressing in a certain way to look good, but to show a very specific anatomical image, governed by strict canons.

It is in the gyms ("aerobics", bodybuilding, martial arts ...) where that aesthetic figure is forged. The discotheques, the swimming pools and the beaches are the scenarios where the "trophies" gained with effort are exhibited: a well chiseled body, powerful muscles. And the athletes, "top models", "universe misters" and the like, are the idols of our time.

In the midst of this new "mythology", many teenagers suffer from anxiety and frustrations, when they do not have important problems such as bulimia and anorexia.

Bulimia nervosa is a mental disorder very similar to anorexia, but with the peculiarity that it is almost always accompanied by induced vomiting. It occurs more frequently than anorexia and most of those who suffer from it are women. It begins at the end of adolescence or in youth and is characterized by strong desires to eat very caloric foods (sweet, fatty, fried) with a later remorse. This is followed by vomiting or, in its place, the improper use of laxatives, diuretics and other drugs.

Anorexia nervosa is a much more frequent disorder in women than in men and generally manifests towards the end of adolescence. It is characterized by an intense desire to lose weight. This translates into diets and physical exercises to achieve a significantly lower weight than normal. In turn, it is accompanied by an irrational fear of obesity, a distortion of the perception of one's own body and amenorrhea in patients.

Leisure employment:

The "pop" music, with its variants and fashions, continues to be an outstanding reference in the lifestyle of the adolescent, arriving in many cases to conform a philosophy of life. From the different types of "rock" to the simple rhythms and the machacones of today ("bakalao", "acid music"), going through a whole constellation of genres of music and dances ("techno", "disco", "rap "). , "break", etc.), young people today have a wide range of offers, in addition to the melodies of "New Age", a counterpoint to the noisiest trends.

But the queen of teenage leisure is the internet, replacing television. The rates of Internet addiction by the youth population are really worrying.

Known is, on the other hand, the influence on the youthful lifestyles of series and telefilms.

The great harmed is reading. In some European countries, 72% of boys and 59% of girls never read or rarely read. Among Hispanics, the indices are even poorer. The Internet, on the other hand, seems to overcome a long crisis. Adapting to the times, it has focused on the adolescent segment. Its influence is great and, in many cases, negative, by the type of games and videos, often violent.

Violence:

We can say that the causes of the increase in violent attitudes in adolescents, especially urban ones, are varied. The pockets of marginality that, far from being reduced, increase in many large cities, are known sources of social problems, often expressed through crime and violence.

The aforementioned models of aggressive games and videos to which teens have access on the Internet, as well as television and film programs, also have their effects. Many times, internet, television and cinema do not influence so much the creation of new social types, new positions and attitudes, as the diffusion and popularization of those who are already on the street. The rest is done by imitating the most tender spectators.

In schools, the conflict is increasing. In some European countries, as well as in the United States, "school violence has become a real plague". In the United States, one in four students between 11 and 16 years of age carries knives in schools. In the last years of elementary school, 22% of students between 10 and 13 years old often feel mistreated by their classmates.
