The people connected in their own Election Fraud scandal back in the day before JFK. . .but integral in placing LBJ and Connally in position for one fateful day!

This article started out simply to expose the the same style of election that recently took place in our own elections in November of 2018.

  • Does history repeat itself?

  • There appears to be evidence proving this to be true.

  • What have we learned? Do We the People ever learn how to work together to end the corruption of the controllers and who they carefully groom and endorse for positions of leadership in what should have been a trusted role in government.

  • Just who are these men influential during the time period of JFK and trusted by the citizens of the United States to govern in a fair manner?

  • Watch as a picture unfolds which began for me by looking into the governor connected, actually more than connected. . .to Lyndon B. Johnson. John Connally and LBJ were great friends.

  • See also how Connally was instrumental in getting George Bush senior into the right place at the Right time.

  • See photos that tell the story of what Bush was about and his friends in High Places! He sure does get around!

  • See how LBJ used his influence and friendships to "cheat" the system!

  • See what others thought of LBJ and the hatred between he and Robert Kennedy

  • Remember when President Trump said, "they will Lie, Lie, Lie and then they will do Whatever it takes?"

  • Very True Words!

  • See how these politicians play both sides, and switch from Democrat to Republican whenever it serves their own selfish goals!May

Let's start with the Texas governor in that car with JFK on that fateful day on November 22, 1963

John Connally

Screen Shot 2018-11-29 at 10.54.30 AM.png

During World War II, he served on the staff of James Forrestal and Dwight D. Eisenhower

Connally was transferred to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
After the war, he became an aide to Senator Lyndon B. Johnson when he assumed the vice presidency in 1961.

It was LBJ , who convinced President John F. Kennedy to appoint Connally to the position of United States Secretary of the Navy.

Connally left the Kennedy Administration in December 1961 to run for Governor of Texas, and he held that position from 1963 to 1969.

But what exactly got him there?

It looks like before there was Hillary spending all her large donors money and asking ridiculous amounts for plates at lavish dinners. . .there was Johnson!

Johnson drew crowds to fairgrounds with his rented helicopter dubbed "The Johnson City Windmill".

He raised money to flood the state with campaign circulars and won over conservatives by voting for the Taft-Hartley act (curbing union power) as well as by criticizing unions.

Johnson was finally announced the winner by 87 votes out of 988,295 cast.

The Committee voted to certify Johnson's nomination by a majority of one (29–28), with the last vote cast on Johnson's behalf by Temple, Texas, publisher Frank W. Mayborn.

Quick side note for Mayborn,

He was the owner of numerous newspaper publications including the Telegram Publishing Co. and Taylor Press in Austin. I don't think we need to guess where his political bias was.

He started radio stations KTEM and WMAK

In addition he, established KCEN-TV, the National Broadcasting Company outlet for both Temple and nearby Waco.

He joined the staff of General Dwight D. Eisenhower as assistant chief of the U.S. public relations office. He received a Bronze Star and left military service as a major in 1945.

A political confidant of Texas Democrats, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson, Governor John B. Connally.

Mayborn played a pivotal role in the Texas Democratic State Central Committee.

A conservative Democrat, accused Johnson's campaign of fraudulent voting practices, particularly in Jim Wells County, one of the south Texas "machine" counties controlled by the Duval County political patron, George Parr. Eighty-seven primary votes were in dispute.

Now how convenient that Mayborn not only owned the radio station to broadcast the winner from, but was also the deciding vote! .

Now this really sounds like issues that were occurring in the United States during mid-term elections recently and the fact that Obama appointed judges were ruling favorably towards democrats even when the republican nominee had already won.

There were so many allegations and evidence of voter fraud.

For example; one writer alleges that Johnson's campaign manager, future Texas governor John B. Connally, was connected with 202 ballots in Precinct 13 in Jim Wells County where the names had curiously been listed in alphabetical order with the same pen and handwriting, just at the close of polling. Some of these voters insisted that they had not voted that day.

Stories like this were prevalent by eye witnesses and poll workers in the latest mid-term elections.

Robert Caro argued in his 1989 book that Johnson had thus stolen the election in Jim Wells County and that 10,000 ballots were also rigged in Bexar County alone.

Election judge Luis Salas said in 1977 that he had certified 202 fraudulent ballots for Johnson.
The state Democratic convention upheld Johnson.

Stevenson went to court but Johnson prevailed, with timely help from his friend Abe Fortas.

You will hear about Abe Fortas a little later.

All these side steps or strands in the web leading off of Connally and LBJ. That's how it is with these wicked people. . corruption leading off everywhere on various webs and strands, this is what they bank on keeping them from being held accoutable, but a light is shining very Bright right Now!

Back to Connally

Connally was appointed as Treasury Secretary under Nixon.

Connally was in charge of the removal of the U.S. dollar from the gold standard, an event known as the Nixon shock.

Connally was also involved in a reported clandestine deal to place the Texas Democrat Robert Anderson on the 1956 Republican ticket as vice president.

The deal fell through when Dwight Eisenhower retained Richard Nixon in the second slot, but

Anderson received a million dollars for his efforts and a subsequent appointment as treasury secretary,

This was the same position that Connally would fill for Nixon fourteen years later in 1971.

Coincidence or No Coincidences. . .Anderson was Eisenhower's first Navy Secretary.

Now remember, this is the weasel that rode in Kennedy's car, harmed, but not killed as Kennedy was.

At the 1960 Democratic convention in Los Angeles, Connally was stumping for his good friend, LBJ.

He claimed that John F. Kennedy, if nominated and elected, would be unable to serve as president for a full term because of Addison's disease and dependence on cortisone.

People like Connally, even today will do whatever it takes, to get their way and their buddies in place!

The Bay of Pigs occurred under Connally who directed the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea on a new kind of "gunboat diplomacy.

During Connally's run for governor, General Will Wilson, who had run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1961, also entered the gubernatorial campaign and was particularly critical of Johnson, who he claimed engineered Connally's candidacy.

You don't say?

This appears to be how dirty politicians do it, whatever you're doing, blame it on the other side! . Now why does that sound familiar? History Does indeed repeat itself and the controlling Globalists count on people either forgetting or never knowing their history. Reminds me of the verse,

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

But don't worry, many of us have awakened and are humbling ourselves while being shown the True History and corruptors.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

So back to Connally,

In the run off bid between Jack Cox and himself, Connally made an issue of Cox's switching to the Republican Party (GOP) the previous year. Eleven years later, Connally made the same switch. Cox, as it turned out, was the strongest Republican gubernatorial candidate in Texas since 1924.

Connally was a master campaign professional, having worked on several of Lyndon Johnson's campaigns. He believed in the entourage and advance men, the practice of having staff aides checking out events and having press interviews on the run to demonstrate Connally's heavy schedule of commitments.

And here's how Connally paved the way for George H. W. Bush!

Isn't it interesting how the foundation is laid to keep Globalists working Together?

Before Connally would agree to Nixon's appointment as Treasury Secretary,

Connally told Nixon that the president must find a position in the administration for George H. W. Bush, the Republican who had been defeated in November 1970 in a hard-fought U.S. Senate race against Democrat Lloyd M. Bentsen.

Ben Barnes, then the lieutenant governor and originally a Connally ally, claims in his autobiography that Connally's insistence saved Bush's political career because the then former U.S. representative and twice-defeated Senate candidate relied on appointed offices to build a resume by which to seek the presidency in 1980 and again in 1988.

Nixon hence named Bush as ambassador to the United Nations in order to secure Connally's services at Treasury.

Screen Shot 2018-11-29 at 11.23.47 AM.png

According to Potus Geeks,

In 1970 President Richard Nixon asked Bush to give up his seat to run for the Senate against incumbent Democrat Ralph Yarborough, who had been a thorn in the side for Nixon. When Bush lost the election, Nixon owed Bush, and rewarded him for his sacrifice by appointing him as US Ambassador to the United Nations.

In 1976 Ford brought Bush back to Washington to become Director of Central Intelligence (DCI), replacing William Colby. Bush served in this role for 357 days, from January 30, 1976, to January 20, 1977. The CIA had been rocked by a series of scandals, including findings by the Church Committee regarding illegal and unauthorized activities by the CIA.

So you see how That works and just how these Democrats and Republicans work hand in hand when needed to set Just the Right People into place! Great set up for the Globalists!

After a Democratic administration took power in 1977, Bush became chairman on the Executive Committee of the First International Bank in Houston.

Between 1977 and 1979, he was a director of the Council on Foreign Relations foreign policy organization. He left to mount his first campaign for the Presidency.

Nothing like having a Globalist supporter for the President of the United States!

And to keep them in play,

Barnes also said that he doubted George W. Bush could have become president in 2001 had Bush's father not first been given the string of federal appointments during the 1970s to strengthen the family's political viability.

Well of course Connally aided Lockheed, would you expect anything less?

Connally later shied away from his role in recommending the failed wage and price controls, and announced guaranteed loans for the ailing Lockheed aircraft company. He also fought a lonely battle against growing balance-of-payment problems with the nation's trading partners, and undertook important foreign diplomatic trips for Nixon through his role as Treasury Secretary.

He was a real favorite of Nixon's.

Historian Bruce Schulman wrote that Nixon was "awed" by the handsome, urbane Texan who was also a tough political fighter. Schulman added that Henry Kissinger, Nixon's National Security Advisor, noted that Connally was the only cabinet member that Nixon did not disparage behind his back, and that this was high praise indeed.

When LBJ died, he and Connally had been friends since 1938 so,

Connally took part in eulogizing Johnson during interment services at the LBJ Ranch in Gillespie County, along with the Rev. Billy Graham, who officiated at the service. Millions around the world viewed Connally's eulogy as the most famous moment of the LBJ funeral, as it was a reminder that Connally was wounded in the assassination that made his mentor and fellow Texan president.

In July 1974, Connally was indicted for allegedly pocketing $10,000 for influencing a milk price decision by Texas lawyer Jake Jacobsen. At his April 1975 trial, he called as character witnesses former First Ladies Jacqueline Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Texas Senator Barbara Jordan (the first female, black state senator in Texas history), Dean Rusk, Robert McNamara, and Billy Graham. According to a November 1979 profile by Paul Burka in Texas Monthly magazine, "The case turned first on whether Connally would simultaneously be tried for perjury—some embarrassing inconsistencies had crept into his pretrial testimony—but his lawyer was able to prevent it, and then the issue came down to whether John Connally or Jake Jacobsen was telling the truth." On the strength of the defense's prominent character witnesses, Connally was acquitted.

According to Everipedia,

In July 1974, Connally was indicted for allegedly pocketing $10,000 for influencing a milk price decision by Texas lawyer Jake Jacobsen. At his April 1975 trial, he called as character witnesses former First Ladies Jacqueline Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Texas Senator Barbara Jordan (the first female, black state senator in Texas history), Dean Rusk, Robert McNamara, and Billy Graham. On the strength of the defense's prominent character witnesses, Connally was acquitted.

So, Billy Graham mixed up with LBJ and Connally. . .interesting!

Connally announced in January 1979 that he would seek the Republican nomination for President in 1980.

When Connally died in 1993, forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht and the Assassination Archives and Research Center petitioned Attorney General Janet Reno to recover the remaining bullet fragments from Connally's body.

Dr. Wecht felt that the fragments would disprove the Warren Commission's single-bullet, single-gunman conclusion. The Justice Department replied that it "...would have no legal authority to recover the fragments unless Connally's family gave permission."

Dr. Cyril Wecht

Screen Shot 2018-12-02 at 6.10.22 PM.png

Screen Shot 2018-12-02 at 6.10.54 PM.png

Guess whose family refused to give permission?

Now why do you suppose they would do that?

Now Dr. Wecht is considered "controversial," because he dared to step outside of the controllers and tell the truth.

For example,

In 1979, Wecht examined Elvis Presley's medical records for 20/20 and disputed earlier autopsy results suggesting Presley may have had cardiovascular disease. Wecht argued Presley died from a lethal drug cocktail overdose.[15] In his book Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey?, he argues that the death was likely an accidental result of a sex "game" committed by her father

In 1972 Wecht was the first civilian ever given permission to examine the Kennedy assassination evidence. It was Wecht who first discovered that Kennedy's brain, and all related data in the killing, had gone missing.

n 1978, he testified before the House Select Committee on Assassinations as the lone dissenter on a nine-member forensic pathology panel re-examining the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which had concurred with the Warren Commission conclusions and single bullet theory.

Out of the four official examinations into the Kennedy Assassination, Wecht is the only forensic pathologist who has disagreed with the conclusion that both the single bullet theory and Kennedy's head wounds are mutually consistent.

Wecht was hired by Callenders and Co, a Bahamian law firm, to do an independent autopsy on the body of Daniel Smith, the son of Anna Nicole Smith who died while visiting his mother in the Bahamas. Wecht attested that Daniel Smith died as a result of the interaction of methadone, sertraline (Zoloft) and escitalopram (Lexapro).

It would be shame if Pharmakeia were exposed for it's use by the Globalist Controllers!

Galatians 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [a]adultery, [b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 18:23

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Pharmakeia (from which our word pharmacy comes) originally referred to the use of potions, drugs, and often poisons, generally for evil purposes. Since these concoctions were often thought to have magical properties, the word developed the secondary meaning of "sorcery."

I will be doing another report on who is really in JFK's grave.

Now back to Abe Fortas as promised. Thought I would be covering this 2 hours ago, but these scoundrels have so many connections and dirty deeds, it literally takes all day when you start poking around. It's about time the Light is shone in All of these dark recesses.

Back to,

Abe Fortas

Screen Shot 2018-11-29 at 10.56.07 AM.png

Guess who got appointed to the Supreme Court by Johnson? That's right, good 'ole buddy Fortas.

LBJ persuaded Supreme Court Justice, Arthur Goldberg to resign his seat to become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations because the President wanted Fortas for that position.

You win a Supreme Court appointee by a democrat!

Really useful when you're a Yale Law Professor and on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

And it only gets better for the Globalists as Fortas didn't only work at the Dept. of the Interior under Roosevelt, but was also appointed by Truman to delegations that helped set up the United Nations in 1945.

Johnson even tried to elevate his good friend Abe Fortas to position of Chief Justice, but there was a filibuster due to ethics problems that later caused Fortas to resign from the Court.

He soundly defeated Republican Jack Porter in the general election in November and went to Washington, permanently dubbed "Landslide Lyndon." Johnson, dismissive of his critics, happily adopted the nickname.

Why of Course he Did! These corruptors have No Problem rubbing their crimes in people's faces!

Interesting he was the son of "jewish parents," quotes because not all who claimed to be jewish are. I am not saying the Fortas were or were not, just noting a fact!

Mother Russian born.

He attended Yale Law School so do you suppose he was part of the Skull and Bones secret society? I find nothing to verify this possibility, but find it is feasible as he did go fairly far in government!

He was part of the Order of the Coif.

I know this will come as no shock to the Awake and Patriots who are discerning, who take the time to read and research rather than to only be educated by their Tell a Vision Box and controlled radio waves, but you should check out the chart of how many are involved in these clubs in government, as judges, attorney's and influential positions. You get a very clear picture of how the groundwork and foundation is laid for these globalists.

Now I understand this is a National honor society for law school graduates. Still. . .

In 1946, after leaving government service, Fortas founded a law firm, Arnold & Fortas, with Thurman Arnold. Former Federal Communications Commission commissioner Paul A. Porter joined the firm in 1947, and after the appointment of Fortas to the Supreme Court, the firm was renamed Arnold & Porter. For many years, it has been one of Washington's most influential law firms, and today is among the largest law firms in the world.

The law firm was influential in assisting Playboy according to the summary on Amazon for this book titled * A Practice Almost Perfect, it details the firm's salvation of Playboy magazine.

Apparently the Supreme Court's overturning of a number of obscenity rulings dealing with pornographic films, which Fortas had consistently voted in favor of on First Amendment grounds.

At Fortas & Koven, yet another firm Fortas founded, he also kept two notable non-paying clients: preeminent cellist/composer Pablo Casals and Lyndon Johnson. Johnson and Fortas remained great friends, with the latter often visiting the former president at his ranch near Stonewall, Texas until his death in 1973.

LBJ

He became known for his domineering personality and the "Johnson treatment", his aggressive coercion of powerful politicians to advance legislation.

He was very important for a globalist agenda as, Johnson's presidency marked the peak of modern liberalism after the New Deal era.

In foreign policy, Johnson escalated American involvement in the Vietnam War. In 1964, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which granted Johnson the power to use military force in Southeast Asia without having to ask for an official declaration of war.

Sure furthered chaos, instability and death.

American casualties soared and the peace process stagnated. Growing unease with the war stimulated a large, angry anti-war movement based chiefly among draft-age students on university campuses.

While Johnson began his presidency with widespread approval, support for him declined as the public became frustrated with both the war and the growing violence at home.

Once in the Senate, Johnson was known among his colleagues for his highly successful "courtships" of older senators, especially Senator Richard Russell, Democrat from Georgia, the leader of the Conservative coalition and arguably the most powerful man in the Senate.

Which is interesting considering Richard Russell was a leader of Southern opposition to the civil rights movement.

Also interesting was the fact that Russell was a member of the Warren Commission.

Sure helps for people like LBJ to have friends in High Places!

Johnson proceeded to gain Russell's favor in the same way that he had "courted" Speaker Sam Rayburn and gained his crucial support in the House.

Johnson assiduously cultivated Russell through all of their joint Senate years and beyond. Russell's support for first-term senator Lyndon Johnson paved the way for Johnson to become Senate Majority Leader. Russell often dined at Johnson's house during their Senate days. However, their 20-year friendship came to an end during Johnson's presidency, in a fight over the Chief Justice nomination of Johnson's friend and Supreme Court justice Abe Fortas in 1968.

Russell's personal papers indicated that he was troubled by the Commission's single-bullet theory, the Soviet Union's failure to provide greater detail regarding Lee Harvey Oswald's time in Russia, and the lack of information regarding his Cuba-related activities.

Russell was dubious about the Vietnam War, privately warning President Johnson repeatedly against deeper involvement.

Russell and LBJ in 1963

Screen Shot 2018-11-28 at 9.27.22 PM.png

LBJ used his influence to ensure passage of the 1958 National Aeronautics and Space Act, which established the civilian space agency NASA.

Johnson was considered extremely efficient at gathering information.

Historians claim he knew each senator's issues, his philosophy and prejudices, his strengths and weaknesses and what it took to get his vote.

Now this would be quite useful if you needed to pull of an assassination in order to infiltrate a presidency!

Robert Baker claimed that Johnson would occasionally send senators on NATO trips in order to avoid their dissenting votes. Central to Johnson's control was "The Treatment",[50] described by two journalists:

he Treatment could last ten minutes or four hours. It came, enveloping its target, at the Johnson Ranch swimming pool, in one of Johnson's offices, in the Senate cloakroom, on the floor of the Senate itself—wherever Johnson might find a fellow Senator within his reach.

Its tone could be supplication, accusation, cajolery, exuberance, scorn, tears, complaint and the hint of threat. It was all of these together. It ran the gamut of human emotions. Its velocity was breathtaking and it was all in one direction. Interjections from the target were rare. Johnson anticipated them before they could be spoken. He moved in close, his face a scant millimeter from his target, his eyes widening and narrowing, his eyebrows rising and falling. From his pockets poured clippings, memos, statistics. Mimicry, humor, and the genius of analogy made The Treatment an almost hypnotic experience and rendered the target stunned and helpless.

Puts that earlier photo of LBJ and Russell in a New Light!

Johnson underestimated Kennedy's endearing qualities of charm and intelligence, as compared to his own reputation as the more crude and wheeling-dealing "Landslide Lyndon". Caro suggests that Johnson's hesitancy was the result of an overwhelming fear of failure.

ohnson attempted in vain to capitalize on Kennedy's youth, poor health, and failure to take a position regarding Joseph McCarthy. He had formed a "Stop Kennedy" coalition with Adlai Stevenson, Stuart Symington, and Hubert Humphrey, but it proved a failure. Johnson received 409 votes on the only ballot at the Democratic convention to Kennedy's 806, and so the convention nominated Kennedy. Tip O'Neill was a representative from Kennedy's home state of Massachusetts at that time, and he recalled that Johnson approached him at the convention and said, "Tip, I know you have to support Kennedy at the start, but I'd like to have you with me on the second ballot." O'Neill replied, "Senator, there's not going to be any second ballot.

I believe this shows why LBJ betrayed his hatred for JFK to his mistress.

See a clip in here,

Kennedy did realize that he could not be elected without support of traditional Southern Democrats, most of whom had backed Johnson; nevertheless, labor leaders were unanimous in their opposition to Johnson.

After much back and forth with party leaders and others on the matter, Kennedy did offer Johnson the vice-presidential nomination at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel at 10:15 am on July 14, the morning after he was nominated, and Johnson accepted. From that point to the actual nomination that evening, the facts are in dispute in many respects.

Seymour Hersh stated that Robert F. Kennedy (known as Bobby) hated Johnson for his personal attacks on the Kennedy family, and later maintained that his brother offered the position to Johnson merely as a courtesy, expecting him to decline. Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. agreed with Robert Kennedy's version of events, and put forth that John Kennedy would have preferred Stuart Symington as his running-mate, alleging that Johnson teamed with House Speaker Sam Rayburn and pressured Kennedy to favor Johnson.

Robert Kennedy wanted his brother to choose labor leader Walter Reuther.

At the same time as his vice presidential run, Johnson also sought a third term in the U.S. Senate. According to Robert Caro, "On November 8, 1960, Lyndon Johnson won election for both the vice presidency of the United States, on the Kennedy-Johnson ticket, and for a third term as senator (he had Texas law changed to allow him to run for both offices). When he won the vice presidency, he made arrangements to resign from the Senate, as he was required to do under federal law, as soon as it convened on January 3, 1961.

Not just JFK's brother Robert, but many members of the Kennedy White House were contemptuous of Johnson and they ridiculed his comparatively brusque, crude manner.

Congressman Tip O'Neill recalled that the Kennedy men "had a disdain for Johnson that they didn't even try to hide....They actually took pride in snubbing him."

He was sworn in by U.S. District Judge Sarah T. Hughes, a family friend. In the rush, a Bible was not at hand, so Johnson took the oath of office using a Roman Catholic missal from President Kennedy's desk.

Considered the most famous photo taken aboard a presidential aircraft, the truth is, LBJ needed Jackie away from JFK's corpse because a switch was taking place and likely the only time to finish the surgery was on the plane flight.

Screen Shot 2018-11-28 at 10.21.55 PM.png

A commission is established, not because LBJ who finally got the position he always sought and "cared" about who killed JFK as he slumped down in the seat of his car while talking quietly on a walkie talkie (according to his driver), but rather so he could take the heat, the stares, the speculation off of himself. He could be rather aggressive and hateful, so people would indeed question the fact he definitely had motive!

On November 29, Johnson established a panel headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, known as the Warren Commission, through executive order to investigate Kennedy's assassination and surrounding conspiracies.

And once again, scoundrels in places of power that likely orchestrated JFK's death themselves, used it for a gun grab!

On October 22, 1968, Lyndon Johnson signed the Gun Control Act of 1968, one of the largest and farthest reaching federal gun control laws in American history. Much of the motivation for this large expansion of federal gun regulations came as a response to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

In 1966 the press sensed a "credibility gap" between what Johnson was saying in press conferences and what was happening on the ground in Vietnam, which led to much less favorable coverage.[159]

By year's end, the Democratic governor of Missouri, Warren E. Hearnes, warned that Johnson would lose the state by 100,000 votes, despite winning by a 500,000 margin in 1964. "Frustration over Vietnam; too much federal spending and... taxation; no great public support for your Great Society programs; and ... public disenchantment with the civil rights programs" had eroded the President's standing, the governor reported.

The hatred between LBJ and Robert Kennedy continued to simmer!

A Gallup poll taken in July 1967 showed 52 percent of the country disapproving of the president's handling of the war and only 34 percent thought progress was being made.[197] Johnson's anger and frustration over the lack of a solution to Vietnam and its effect on him politically was exhibited in a statement to Robert F. Kennedy, who had become a prominent public critic of the war and loomed as a potential challenger in the 1968 presidential election.[198] Johnson had just received several reports predicting military progress by the summer, and warned Kennedy, "I'll destroy you and every one of your dove friends in six months", he shouted. "You'll be dead politically in six months".

By 1968 as casualties mounted and success seemed further away than ever, Johnson's popularity plummeted. College students and others protested, burned draft cards, and chanted, "Hey, hey, LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?"

On Inauguration Day (January 20, 1969), Johnson saw Nixon sworn in, then got on the plane to fly back to Texas. When the front door of the plane closed, Johnson pulled out a cigarette—his first cigarette he had smoked since his heart attack in 1955. One of his daughters pulled it out of his mouth and said, "Daddy, what are you doing? You're going to kill yourself." He took it back and said, "I've now raised you girls. I've now been President. Now it's my time!" From that point on, he went into a very self-destructive spiral.
