Sowellisms and Walmart!

If you don't like Walmart, you can shop somewhere else; that's the American Way. But we don't apply this time-tested tradition of competition to our education, where public schools are the only ones funded by the state. Poor people may 'shop' for their education nowhere else. Only the rich can shop at better stores whilst everyone else are forced to buy the crap at the failing public schools.

We should stop government funding of institutions and instead fund families to chose where their kids go to school. Competition works in every other part of our economy, it can work in education too.

But, of course, that would mean that the teachers unions would have to loosen their stranglehold on their monopolistic power. -Something they're not going to give up without a fight. What's best for students and families is a far lesser concern to them.
