How to make a templatesteemCreated with Sketch.

in education •  7 years ago

STEP 1: MAKE A TEMPLATE

Use your flip flops to trace a template onto two pieces of cardboard.

Cut out the template when you are done.

STEP 2: MARK THE JEANS AND CUT

Take your jeans and cut off the ends of each pant leg so that they are a few inches longer than your cardboard cutouts.

Flip the cut off pant leg inside out and then use the cardboard pieces to trace an outline in the center of the fabric.

Cut around the outline, leaving a half inch border. This should leave you with a top and bottom piece of fabric for each foot.

STEP 3: SEW AROUND..

With your sewing machine, sew 3/4 of the way around the fabric, using the trace line as a guide.

Be sure to leave a hole large enough to insert your cardboard and batting.

STEP 4: CUT OUT THE BATTING

Use your cardboard to trace outlines onto the batting.

Once you have traced the outline, next you have to cut them out.

STEP 5: PUT ALL TOGETHER AND SEW AROUND

Flip the sandal fabric so that the right side is facing out.

Insert the cardboard and batting into the sandal fabric and sew the fabric shut.

STEP 6: CUT AROUND THE POCKETS

Cut around the back pockets of your jeans.

STEP 9: PUT ALL TOGETHER AND SEW

Slip the front of the sandal into the pocket. The outside (and more ornate) part of the pocket will be the top of the sandal.

Sew around the front edge of the sandal so that you firmly attach it to the pocket.

Also, sew along the underside of the sandal to close the bottom of the pocket and keep it from catching on things while you walk.
