Why you Should be Watching Ted Talks.

I have been a huge fan of Ted talks for years now.

Lately, I have been watching them more than ever to find inspiration for blogging and today it got me thinking that everyone should be watching Ted talks. So, I wanted to make a blog about why you should watch them.

Brilliant speakers taking about innovative subjects.

There are so many brilliant speakers I have seen do Ted talks. They are engaging, interesting, persuasive. They often are tapping into subjects that are rarely talked about. They often tackle controversial issues head-on. They educate us and make us though. Thought-provoking, definitely. I was away from most Ted Talks with my brain spinning around digesting ideas and batting them around, looking at them from different angles. Crumbling them into a ball and kicking them around. It really gets me inspired and thinking. This is the number one reason I think we should all watch Ted Talks.

Incredibly varied content and different unique viewpoints.

Do I agree with the opinion of every Ted Talk speaker? No, but that is because there are SO MANY Ted Talks and they talk about so many subjects from technology and science to spirituality and dreams. They talk about education, brains, psychology, mental illness, abuse, art. I don't agree with every video I see but I enjoy every one of them and I think of the variety as a pro not a con. I like seeing different perspectives and viewpoints, in fact I think it is crucial for my learning and growing.

Humor, Heart, Humanity.

There are many videos that offer humor and pleasure. There are also many heart-warming videos. I feel like I have some of my faith in humanity restored after spending an hour watching Ted Talks. The speakers are often such genuine people and it really makes me feel like we are all connected in something that can be great. It reminds me that people are out there trying to make something great and it inspired me that I can do the same.

Let's not forget about Ted Ed.

There is also a separate section for short educational videos that are animated. I find them such a wonderful way to learn. I think they do a great job of simplifying some complex subjects in a way where I can learn about even subjects that don't come naturally to me. I like to watch a few Ted-Ed videos a day to keep the ole' brain happy.

My two favorite Ted Talks.

This Ted talk on depression is probably the most accurate talk about depression I have ever seen. It affected me deeply. I think it does a great job of explaining depression in a way that even people not suffering from it would understand.

This kid is so heckin smart and I just love this talk about hackschooling.

great place to learn about upcoming stuff.

Yeah ted talks are great if you want to learn more about a topic. I find that the quality has gone down a bit now that it has been opened up to more people. Still good though.

I sometimes turn them off if I am not liking them. I seek out ones I will enjoy. :) But yeah not every single one is the best I agree.

I guess the ones I love impacted me so much that I find it worth it.

Good morning lauralemons! I agree with you completely that people should watch TED talks for super inspiration and to encourage their creativity and thoughtfulness. I would just add that once you have reached this point, Youtube videos have a wealth of specific content for digging in and learning in various technical fields like music production, painting, web design, etc. I can't wait to get up every morning so that I can learn more. In between watching videos I am making acrylic paintings on canvas, so that I can spend a lot of my time in right brain mode. So much fun!

I love TedTalks that's all I watch on YouTube.

definitely one of the best things you could choose in my opinion.

I was a fan of TED talks until I heard how they want to control you when you go there to give one. Eddie Huang who has a TV show Fresh Off The Boat talked about a Scientology cult like atmosphere (on Joe Rogan Podcast) when he went to do it. Kinda weird but some of the talks are really good!

I will have to look into that not sure I buy it right off the bat but I will definitely look into it. :>

Ya I don't know it's just the way they set the whole thing up. Here's the link with an excerpt from the podcast.

ted talks are ace, you can learn pretty much what ever you want at one of those.

There is so much to learn from them. :)

I like watching the ones that are a little weird

yes they have plenty of them on various important topics to help expand your brain

There is so much value they give, some inspired to change.

The First 20 Hours -- How to Learn Anything by Josh Kaufman is one of my favorites!

Somehow I haven't seen it. I will check it out!

What are your views on the Big Think project?

I've only heard of it but haven't looked into it. Should I?

Personally, I find it to be a little hit and miss. I did like the ones that pertained to a screenwriting course I was taking, and I was surprised to discover what an environmental activist Harrison Ford is through an interview he did with them. They've got quite a collection on YouTube, some of which are worth checking out.

I'll give you my Campaign Speech for when I run for President: Govern Yourselves Accordingly.

Okay, I will go see how I feel about them myself. :) Thanks!

I love Ted talks but don't get into enough of them, I'll follow to see if you post any good ones!

I tend to try to write original content and not just share talks but I was thinking of taking talks I like and writing about them at length while also sharing the talk? :)

That sounds great!

Thank you for advice :) I'm gonna watching one :)

Yay!! :D

Ya win some ya lose some. At least I broke even. :) Thanks rando

It's been a while since I watched one, but love them. Thanks for the reminder!

No problem. :D Always good to go back to them.

Ted talk brings speakers from across countries. Multiple cultures. Many experiences. Scholer and achievers are in under on hood.
My travel hours, both ways, home to office goes listening to Ted talk.
And, as you mentioned above, we should be watching.
Of course, of our interested topics.

Awesome. :D Glad to see someone else so into Ted Talks.

Yeah, into it. pretty much. :P
And, congratulation on your 1000+
I noticed your other post.

I know that I should, but I HATE watching videos. It has something to do with having to listen to the human voice (SO ANNOYING). I would love to see transcriptions of those talks.

You can gain a lot of knowledge watching Ted Talks

Ted Ed is my favorite!! Also, that Andrew Solomon talk on depression made a huge impact on me. Another great YT channel is Vsauce, they do sciency/philosophical content with a humorous twist. :)

I will have to check it out! I usually actually watch Ted on the Ted site but wanted to share the video here but still I am going to go back that out later. :D I like science and philosophy with a humorous twist.
