Computer is an advanced electronic device that takes raw data from users and processes it under the set of instructions called program, gives the output and saves it for futuristic use. A stand alone computer is a computer that is not connected to any other device and the only way it can share information and\data is through removable storage media. The effect of this may be felt if this involve s a large organization that depends on data stored on a central server or location. Computer network is a communication system that links computers in the same manner the telephone system links telephone therefore a computer network can be said to be a combination of computers and telecommunication technologies.
Too numerous to mention are the importance of computers in our today’s society. Amongst these are ; Data processing, Electronic commerce, Accounting, Storage, Documents and reports, Communication, Electronic governance, Electronic Data interchange, Financial electronic data interchange, Electronic payment system, Education, et cetera.
Electronic governance (E-governance), the application of information and telecommunication technology (ICT) for delivering government services, exchange of information, communication transactions, integration of various stand alone systems and services between government to customers (g2c), government to businesses (g2b), and government to government (g2g).
Electronic governance focuses on greater attention to improving service delivery mechanism, enhances the efficiency of production and emphasizes upon the wider access of information More so, E-governance can transform citizen service , provide access to information to empower citizens, enable third participation in government as well as enhance their economic and social opportunities so that they can make better lives for themselves and the next generation.
Electronic commerce (E-commerce) an electronic mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood. To many people, it is the act of buying and selling at a profit electronically. From the perspective of communication, e-commerce is the delivery of information, product and services or payment via telephone lines, computer networks or any other means. Today computers in our society paved the way for computer knowledge workers through the manipulation of computer programming languages to manipulate the computing in creating a commercial platform where goods and services are exchanged electronically. It is the cheapest way of doing business as it brings the cost of production and delivery of goods and services to the barest minimum and fast.
One of the most important features of the computer today is communication. Via the interconnectivity of computer and computers network, major breakthrough in communication is the near instant cross talk (NEXT) and has greatly reduce the cost of transmission and reception of information. Therefore human imagination is the only limit to creating cost synergy and distance not a barrier.
Education has been made available and cheaper round the clock with the help of search engines, syntax and semantics of information processing, as a result, there is a huge investment in research and technology within the society.
Finally, it is arguably arguable to say that computers form the gamut of human existence as with computers, failure is not an option.

Our challenge is to work even smarter to decide what projects will most benefit the company, how we can continue to leverage the power of information technology to support our business, and how we can exploit our human capital to successfully plan and execute those projects.
