Steemit Bootcamp for Da Ladies | Donations Report

in education •  7 years ago

So in the last Steemit Bootcamp for Ladies (renamed from Boiler Room Bootcamp, story in another post), we managed to get 37 participants, each paying between RM80 - RM100 per pax. The cost involved was Eventbrite Fees, PayPal Fees and some petrol expenses for the volunteers.

All said and done, we were left with RM2600.

Upon the suggestion of @carolfung, RM500 was donated to Seri Talam Cat Gallery. I like cats, and mostly all animals as long as they don't get into my pants like cockroaches.

The balance of RM2,100 was donated to Dignity for Children Foundation, through my friend Geetha. Geetha is running in the annual Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2018, and you can check out her profile here.

From Geetha's message:

In 2018 Dignity for Children Foundation will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary. From just 20 children receiving education in an informal community learning centre it is now a full-fledge education centre with over 1,000 underprivileged children from 2 – 17 years attending formal education. Many have gone on to tertiary education, joined internships, started businesses and moved on to the workplace.

For the 2018 KL run, they aim to raise RM240,000 to support 40 students for their Empower-a-Child Programme. The money raised will be for 40 children for their education and development needs, to reach the final goal of transformation and financial independence.

One thing I love more than anything else, perhaps something that drives me to create impact, is education and the doors of opportunities it can open.

So, if you're with me, you can support Geetha's run for Dignity for Children Foundation, or you can just upvote and resteem this post. 100% of the payouts from this post will be donated to the same cause as well.

And the ladies, I'm not forgetting you. You made this happened. :)

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD7, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

  • Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
  • Upvote (like) other people contents
  • Comment on other people's posts
  • Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome
