Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, directed the officials from the education department to look into the possibility of starting classes for students from Class 10–12, across villages that have been free of coronavirus infection for the last few months and also the ones which ensure that the villages remain free of future also.
The instructions were given while he was addressing at a meeting with the officials from the school education department. Present at the same were School Education Minister Pvt. Varsha Gaikwad, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the School Education Department Vandana Krishna, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Secretary Abasaheb Jarhad and other senior officials.

Few parts of Maharashtra have not reported coronavirus cases for a few weeks and necessary measures are being taken to ensure the activities resume in a safe manner. Moreover, CM has asked the officials to look at the possibility only if the local administration continues to maintain the COVID-free status in the months to come. Safety measures and guidelines will have to be followed at all times, both by the civic body and the school authorities.
