Hello Steemit community!
I have only just become aware of this platform, and am largely ignorant of the technical details. Despite some of the issues that I have recently discovered with whales and proper community utilization, I see a great potential in Steemit to be a future hub for the sharing of educational content. I want to start making my own posts, but would love some direction from you, the people here actually using the platform. I am a currently a neuroscience and psychology student with a wide range of interests outside of my field, such as philosophy, politics, mindfulness meditation, art, music, and travel.
My question is this:
Would you prefer a channel that is solely dedicated to creating content specifically about neuroscience, pharmacology, and related fields, or a channel that covers a vast array of topics as well? I understand why someone might not want an update if I post a video about a recent mountain climbing trip if they are only interested in seeing science related posts.
Thanks so much if anyone read this, let alone replied!
First of all welcome to Steemit! Check out my post: How To Succeed On Steemit? to get yourself on the right track... but any other questions feel free to ask.
In regards to would I like a channel for neuroscience etc. yes. yes. yes. I'm a biomedical science graduate myself so It sounds good to me haha. I'll give you a follow :)

I've had this same thought about youtube recently. I have a channel which deals with one very specific area of my recent interests, but I've found it restrictive to only be able to make videos about that one area. I think, though, that because it's so focused, a lot of my subscribers would think "What???" if I started posting about other things. I think it helps to get subscribers faster because I stuck to a narrow field of interest, but I feel a bit trapped by it now. I guess there's pay offs both ways. Maybe you can have a sort of ratio approach. 95% this and 5% that, or whatever. To be honest, I also tried this, and although people react well to my other types of content, my stats show that it's the narrowly focused stuff which actually picks up the subscribers... I really do think it's very important to feel creatively free though. It's wonderful to express something true about yourself and have people, no matter how few, acknowledge and get something from it. It's a great feeling.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This might be a good solution, to have a sturdy base but the freedom to stray from such a narrow category of content. Thanks so much for the feedback, and best of luck of your own endeavors.

I also just found another site called channels.cc which I'm going to post stuff on too - not sure if I'm allowed to mention that here, but it also seems interesting.

Hi thank you for your post, nice to meet you! I'm a pharmacist and I'm attending a master degree in Neuroscience so I'm, of course, pretty more interested in scientific topics and in particular in neuroscience and pharmacology as well :)
