Expanding Beyond Steemit with PiedPiper & Mrs. SteemitsteemCreated with Sketch.

With Dan's departure and the jump in Steem's price, there is a renewal of enthusiasm around here. Is it going to last? Has the tide really turned or is the big rally still to come? We have our opinions about this and are happy to share but we really want to start looking beyond Steem to explore some other interconnected topics.

Steem is a fantastic tool for introducing people to cryptocurrencies and often inspires an interest in economics and business. It's a doorway into the fascinating and liberating world of entrepreneurship, which is where our true passion lies. Of course, we'll continue to cover Steemit developments as they occur but our scope is broadening and we hope you'll all join us in the conversation as we explore what it means to take responsibility for your own life and blaze your own trail through it.

Well yes, clearly Dan has very good ideas, but the execution is poor and overcomplicated. And then he backs off. Bitshares was exactly the same.

Agreed, Steemit drags people into the cryptosphere. But it needs a lot of work to be the new Reddit or whatever.

Dan's technical execution is very good, Steemit and Bitshares are testimony to that. Dan is probably the very best developer in the industry right now. What is missing though is the other side, making the tech relatable, approachable and usable. That what's needed now.

Agreed. We've come a long way but there's still a lot to be done.

Can you give a few examples of what can be improved on steemit?

I think that Steemit should have a clear focus on what this platform is meant to be. It seems to be a cross between reddit and blogging, with a tad bit of instagram mixed in between. I agree that Steemit is a revolutionary platform and the socio-economic aspect has been thought out quite well, as written in their white paper. (Yes, I read through all 44 pages haha) With a relatively small development team compared to other projects, I believe that Steemit should focus on disrupting the blogging scene, as I believe that would yield that highest on-board from writers, where less-established bloggers would be quick to come here. It would save them the hassle of finding hosting sites and setting up a website from scratch. Though Steemit's user interface may seem primitive at the moment, I think the most important issue to tackle right now, would be clarity in direction. Personally, I would love to see blogging take over here, with the flexibility and interactive-ness of Reddit-type comments within the community.

Interesting thoughts on college. Did you see this?

Yes! That was fantastic :)
Our latest Fort Galt member used a similar service to get a job placement at the Seasteading Institute and he's absolutely loving it. It's definitely the way to go.

Nice episode! I particularly resonated with piedpipers comments on university education. Interestingly, I wrote about a similar topic before, discussing whether more education increases productivity in society.

Here's the link if interested!

Following our hearts and dreams are such important issues for our soul to thrive and, as far as I have experienced so far, here with Steemit, it surely has pushed me to move forward faster than I would have otherwise which, in itself, shows a remarkable aspect to this site as well as the power of their cryptocurrency: It empowers us all to realize our dreams and fulfil our hearts desires! Of course, I can't wait to see the development of the new "string" of Steemit.com and sure hope for more socially incline interactivity allowing us all to gain so much more than friends. :)

Education also empowers us, especially to see through the lies, learning to read between the lines is a very important aspect of it. Yet, the thinking with one's heart seemingly could get more exposure... Here, in Canada, British columbia, the new curriculum allows this to occur right now and, hopefully, most teachers will include this at the forefront of their everyday value planning. This way, everyone wins on the long run as everyone get to become more valuable to each other's eyes, especially in their differences, building tolerances and increasing the celebration of the differences themselves for what it brings to each other individually as well as in a group however large we may consider it.

All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

This video is unfair for steemit - I had to watch it three times to get the content as I was sooooo fascinated from the Beauty on the left side of the vid :-) - sure many others have the same issue - but finally got it - great thoughts - thais for sharing @piedpier and @mrs.steemit

Great post and video :) STEEM has huge uncovered potential :)

steem is a fantastic tool for introducing people to cryptocurrencies

I agree very much with this. There are no other cryptos out there doing this as well as Steemit.

Happy to be back with our show! :)

i think steemit will become the new reddit

You hope

I hope that you are using E-prime.
And I wish you let the other person know that it is, that what you are using, and what it is.
Because else it seems like you are telling the other person not to trust his own thoughts, and to believe your thoughts instead, the person might unconsciously control his speech. I don't believe that to be a good thing for there may come a time when a person might need his freedom of speech to stop, what I believe to be, atrocities . But that's my opinion;)

Edited; added some words to clarify, I'm walking on eggshells allready lol

It's either that or @personz is saying, in a word, that there are miles to go before we sleep. ...you have been activated, complete your mission!

Please explain.

yeah why what do you think

very well done guys, nice discussion , love the side by side, informative and also encouraging for the platform.

Will mention this on air soon.

Steemit can definitely be the next big thing if managed and executed properly.

Forgive me BUT, @piedpiper totally cashed out and split for a very long time, now back sounding like Mr.(delayed) Authority!? No thanks ..but sure, give him $100+ bucks to talk about side-projects with another "authority".

Video doth pays!

Put a pair of big b...eyelashes, in front of this often foolish crowd, and they quickdraw their wallets! ;-) piedpiper should be rewarded for that class-ic move.

We're certainly not authorities. We're just fellow users that are helping newcomers get into cryptocurrencies by way of Steemit. If you're seasoned blockchain programmer, then you're probably not in our target audience and we're certainly not trying to teach you anything new... but most people out there still have no idea what all this stuff is about and as they trickle in the door, they need some friendly faces to help them get comfortable and brought up to speed. I think of us as the "walmart greeters" of Steemit. I've been on Steemit for almost a year and am STILL just waiting for it to come out of beta. Once that happens and the marketting begins, we're gonna need a lot more people like us to help with the influx of newbies.

As for "cashing out," I already explained that in a previous video. I predicted a long downward trend in the price (which, I was right about) so I decided to sell high in order to buy back in low, just as I have been doing with other cryptocurrencies for 5 years now. I don't think we're at the bottom yet so I'm exercising a good deal of self-control to not jump the gun on buying back in... but we're getting close so I'm keeping a close eye on things... but frankly, this is a fun hobby on the side for me. I'm more than happy to participate on a casual basis but I already have a business and am not looking for another.

People who I know who had 0r have experience as oppose to going to school are considered to be "over qualified" if that makes any sense? lol
These are people whom I've met when I was working 9-5 j.o.b.(s)(just-over-broke). Highly skilled individuals getting turned down for positions they are skilled in. Wow!

That's how you know that it's not a good place to work. ;)

Well, good for me! They were trying to get me in the positions these other persons were obviously qualified for lol
Yep, bad place(s) to work

Hey man. You did a video back in July that helped me when I was starting out on Steemit that showed how to sell your steemit on blocktrades. Video was great for the beginners. You should re-post that video or do an updated one. It would be great for all the newbies. Thanks again man.

Not a bad idea. Thanks :)
