My thoughts on self learning

in education •  7 years ago

I am a firm believer in self learning.

I am a curious person and have always tried to ask questions. But I ask these questions to myself first and then I do ask them to others.

Since the advent of internet and the phones that happen to be smarter than us, we have seen a increase in knowledge. And often we watch videos and read interesting stuff that is in fact not so useful to us.

People keep on scrolling their social media feed and then read all those posts by buzzfeed and Listverse and then claim as being self-thought.

What I mean to say is that these days people have become masters of stuff that they will never use and will never in any way help them either financially, mentally, or in any other way.

Self-study must always be focused towards a topic or a field of study that will help you or the world at large. Many scientists are self-taught and with their research they help the world.

So... what are your thoughts?

Should Self-Learning be part of our formal educational curriculum?
