Hi @giantbear! Fellow teacher from SA here...
I've been teaching for around 3 years and got into teaching quite 'late' in my life as I first studied BA and worked for a bit before completing my PGCE.
I can relate to your post. Some days are incredible, other days leave me feeling drained, demotivated and questioning my career choice. As a man I'm involved in all the sports (and pretty much all the facets of the school) too. I've never had anything to do with kids before this, but I'm great with them and have amazing relationships with most if not all of them. They've also taught me to not be too serious and laugh at myself from time to time, too.
I do hope, however, to transition back into counselling / psychology and am hoping that my Steemit blog will enable me to pursue the latter. Worst case scenario, my steemit blog will serve as my writing portfolio if I want to write full-time. Still, the financial challenges of a teacher is real and saving is pretty much impossible.
Anyways, thought I'd pop in and say hi! Good luck with the rest of term 1, we're getting there!
@rionpistorius You should write for us on @steemiteducation. Following you now to keep track. Go check out our blog and bring in more teachers :)Is there anywhere that I can contact you other than on steemit. I have an idea for a school fundraising project and would like to get it out there. I need support from other teachers.

@giantbear Yeah sure, you can contact me on steemchat.com, that should suffice. I know it's been giving some problems recently so just let me know if you can't reach me.
