FREEWORLD - EPISODE #1 - EDUCATION

FREEWORLD is the world we could have if we were left alone to find our own way. The purpose here is not to explain how education has become a tool of the insatiably greedy to increase control and profit to the detriment of the entire human species. "JFK to 911 Everything Is A Rich Man's Trick" by TheFreedomCycle is also very good with a lot of information not covered in the first two.

THIS is a positive look at what education might be like in a state of complete freedom.

The goal of education is to give a child the information they need to understand how to take care of themselves, how to be self-sufficient, happy, and independent. Any worthwhile education must teach at a minimum how to survive and thrive. It's understood that the reading, writing, and math tools would be taught but better than they currently are once the ingenuity of the human spirit has been unleashed.

Children would be home schooled until a certain age to be determined. Parents have the right and responsibility to raise their own children. A child's natural parents are best suited to teach right from wrong in the formative years and their connection makes them the best teachers of love and kindness. Later, after a sound base has been established, a child may seek some specific information that their parents weren't able to give them. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's look at what else the parents should teach or more importantly, what every child needs to know.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

It's important to know how the body works and what's good for it and what's not. Our immune system will protect us from most things if we don't overload it with busy work, like processing foods that have an acidic ph. There's a plant to cure virtually every ailment known to man and a complete knowledge of plants, their effects, how to grow them, and how to harvest the seeds is fundamental to health and self-sufficiency. Everyone has a right to know how to heal themselves. When you're independent, you control your future, no one else can do it better.

MORAL PRINCIPLES

Everyone is born with equal rights to life and liberty to do whatever they wish as long as it doesn't infringe on another person's rights.

SOCIALIZATION & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

The only way a skill is learned well is by practice. Children need to learn how to interact with others and opportunities should be made available in this regard with a view to teaching the following principles of NVC, non-violent communication.

HARMONY WITH NATURE

Human beings are just one part of nature and to think that we are somehow apart or above the rest of nature because of our perceived and perhaps false idea of superior intellect is nothing but vanity. If that's true, then understanding how and where we have the most synergy with the life us around should be quite beneficial.

Most people would agree that we have a right to live but what about other species, do they have a right to live? I think we're not as a whole, giving this enough thought and we should before we try to teach anyone else what's right.

I believe they do have a right to live. Of course, this is coming from someone who talks to birds, rabbits, elk, etc. Their first response is always flight but quite often when I give my "cluck" sound, they stop for a moment. Sometimes the move closer. And my dog... I talk to him all day and in complete sentences like he's a human.

I've never had a dog be anything but loving and loyal, ever. I can't say the same about humans. There's something hypocritical to think humans have more right to life than dogs. We should be so good.

CRITICAL THINKING & GOOD WILL

Those two may seem like the odd couple at first but the synergy there gives a more accurate path towards a common goal, living in peace and harmony with each other.

Critical thinking to me is not about coming to a conclusion or concern with being right. It's about gathering all the facts you can and storing them for continual evaluation. This way when new facts are acquired, they're quickly assimilated and you don't find yourself dismissing a better truth because your vested in a certain idea. You just reevaluate with the new information included. The only goal is the truth and there's nothing a person can do but try to know it because it doesn't change. If we don't know it today, not to worry, it'll still be there waiting for us tomorrow.

Teaching a child how to think critically could be done by encouraging them with examples of questions that they might ask in regards to the days lessons or activities. Practice until it's second nature. Question everything.
