All year round we have countless celebrations and we always go the extra mile to make it memorable and joyful. Now, as we prepare to celebrate Sankranti, let us look at its significance and also how we can make it impactful.
Significance of Makar Sankranti
The word Sankranti is derived from Sanskrit meaning the movement of the Sun. On Makar Sankranti, the Sun is regarded to have moved back to the northern hemisphere from the southern hemisphere which is considered as a highly significant event and also marks the advent of new beginnings. In addition, the significance of Sankranti lies in the very core of the festival where we pray and celebrate nature’s bounty as we bring home the fresh harvest. Harvest signifies prosperity, health, happiness, harmony, and togetherness.
Share the spirit of Sankranti
As the saying goes, “the more the merrier”, this year, celebrate Sankranti not just with family and friends, but also with children who are brimming with enthusiasm to achieve excellence in academics, sports, arts, and in their ambitions. This year, make Each One Educate One Foundation, an education NGO, a part of your celebration. A registered, for impact, not-for-profit organisation, the Each One Educate Foundation offers free, holistic, values-based, quality education to rural, underprivileged children in India. It is spread across 20 districts of three states and is currently nurturing 3,000 aspiring students in their 27 campuses.
Harvesting prosperity through education
We celebrate harvest festivals because the crop in the fields is the result of our hard work, perseverance, and effort. The harvested crop is our food and also the source of income that helps to sustain life and brings in prosperity.
Similarly, when we sponsor for education of underserved children, we lift them out of poverty and enable them to attain their aspirations which opens their door to prosperity. It is this outlook that drives the Each One Educate One Foundation to provide the best for each child. While this education NGO is striving each day on its endeavour to provide holistic education and care, it believes that a collective collaboration between the Society (Samaja), the Government (Sarkara), and the Institution (Samstha) is quintessential in transforming the lives of underserved children. Hence it makes it easy for all to get involved with its work at the click of a button and donate online to NGO, in addition to associating as CSR partners, fundraisers and sponsors.
For a good harvest, we need to toil right from the very first step of tilling the land. Similarly for real transformation to happen through education, we have to address all inter-related factors too to facilitate learning and development. Hence the Each One Educate One Foundation has designed three comprehensive Edu-Care Programmes - the Each One Educate One, the Each One Embrace One, and the Each One Higher Educate One to support the beneficiaries at different stages. So, when you contribute to this education NGO to sponsor for education, the beneficiaries receive complete end-to-end care that includes:
● Quality education, free of cost from grade 6 to university level
● Values-based activities
● Personality and skill development
● Internship programmes for graduates
● National and international education trips
● Safe, secure separate campuses for boys and girls
● Wholesome, nourishing food
● Academic essentials like books and stationeries
● Daily and personal essentials
The story of what can be reaped through education
Every time someone chooses to sponsor for education of underserved children, it results in a change that is both transformational and sustainable in nature. Know it directly from Karthik who journeyed from being a beneficiary to a benefactor.
“I am Karthik. I am a Senior Engineer and researching the applications of Artificial Intelligence in the construction industry. I wholeheartedly thank the Each One Educate One Foundation for sponsoring my education from school to university level and dedicatedly supporting me for 15 years that enabled me to achieve my ambition. As a 14-year-old boy, I joined Grade 8 in Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Educational Institutions, the group of educational institutions of the Each One Educate One Foundation. I received values-based, free education, academic knowledge in line with my aspiration of becoming an engineer, coaching in sports and fine arts, and training programmes for smart thinking, soft skills, and communication skills. After completing Grade 12, I took up Civil Engineering course. I got a 2-year internship opportunity at Sri Sathya Sai Grama. This allowed me to work with a project team including principal architects, consultants, and contractors. This gave me a hands-on experience and a complete picture of the ground reality, greatly boosting my self-confidence. I completed my Masters in Structural Engineering with distinction in 2019. During the training phase, along with 13 others I was involved in various projects that included project planning, floor planning, 3D designing. Leadership & communication skills training were also imparted to us. This unparalleled exposure instilled huge confidence in all of us. I feel proud to be a part of this institution. It has moulded me into a competent engineer and a conscientious individual. And as an expression of my gratitude, today I am engaged with the institute as a Senior Engineer. A values-based, free education has empowered a village boy like me. With the combined support from society, you, and me, the Each One Educate One Foundation will be able to transform the lives of many more rural children.”
