A Guitar lesson For The People Who Play Splendidly!

in educatorshowdown •  7 years ago

Just firing out a little tip for any splendid players out there,
Picking is a blaady important aspect of the guitar and requires extreme detail to make the notes your striking sound even and pleasant to the ear.
In this exercise, I will demonstrate the advantages of starting your phrase/lick or scale shape with an upstroke instead of the standard downstroke.

It might feel very weird to start with, but you will quickly figure out the picking puzzle to your lick, and it may benefit that lick immensely, allowing the mechanics and musical algorithms to flow at a perfect pace... haha.

Shurrup jeff...

So if you can,, play the scale shape I played, and try the two different strokes to start with.
You will quickly find out that starting with an upstroke is the only way that scale will flow properly.
Providing you stick to alternate picking, starting with a downstroke will cause mayhem in the middle of the shape, thus making you change strokes wildly, making it sound clunky.

I hope ya feel it.

Nice man I’m gona try it out! You’ve got some great speed there, bringing the classical shredz! Sounding awesome :) 🤘

It's a sick little guitar!! Makes playing fast a bit easier cos of the spacing.
Cheers Sunset.
Hope your watching a few sunsets cheechin some cheeches.

Nice man:) yea nylon string guitars are sometimes a bit easier to shred on, but still great picking technique! I have a cheap steel string chinese ‘lucky star’ I got here for about £50... it’s not bad, but it certainly ain’t good either haha:) does the job for now!
I’m catching the sunset whenever I can bro! Hope your getting your dose of sunsets or sunrises, couldn’t recommend them any higher! In Cambodia they must be great too
