Edward John David Redmayne, OBE (born 10 January 1982) is an English actor.

Known for his roles in biopics and blockbusters, he has received various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, a British Academy Film Award, and two Laurence Olivier Awards. In 2014 he was made a Chevalier of France's Legion of Honour for services to drama.
Edward grew up in Wokingham, Berkshire
Edward spent most of his childhood in Wokingham and had attended school at St Mary’s Catholic School in nearby Woodley before moving on to Reading Blue Coat School in Tilehurst for his sixth form years. He then went on to attend Christ Church at Oxford University and studied there from 1993 to 1996 before graduating with a degree in arts (BA) – ancient history and archaeology.
