Slim is a Great Egret here in Florida. He, or she has been coming around a bit over 5 years. Slim stops by for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or the occasional in between snack. Slim and all egrets eat fish, lizards, snakes bugs and a variety of other tasty treats found in the water.
This is Slim during a lunch visit today.
Egrets eat meat and Slim is no exception. The preferred meat of choice for Slim is honey smoked turkey, but will eat bologna if that's the only other option.

No flamingos, but I do get ibis and an occasional wood stork which is a species listed as threatened. Twice while living here sandhill cranes have come through the yard. They're a very impressive bird up close and the sounds they make could be in Jurassic Park.

My friend Amy (she contacted you during the hurricane--cat rescue lady) posted something about sandhill cranes and the sound was, indeed, unusual. I think we can know what the pterodactyl sounded like!
