CAIRO - For three years an Egyptian artist spent three years reproducing the Qur'an in a large roll of paper.
Saad Muhammad hopes the copy of his handwritten Koran is listed as the world's largest Qur'an by Guinness World Records.
Saad Muhammad rewrote the Koran with calligraphy decorated with distinctive Islamic motifs painted beautifully from his own hands at his home in the city of Belqina, north of the capital, Cairo.

As a result, he has succeeded in reproducing the Muslim Scriptures with a long roll of 700 meters of paper.
"The Quran is 700 meters long and that is certainly a huge sum," Saad Muhammad told Reuters television.
"I myself funded this project for three years - and I have no assets or anything," he said.
Guinness says that despite the world's biggest record of printing the Quran, so far there is no record holder for the largest handwritten version.
Mohammed said he hopes for help and fees from the government as well as anyone who wants to help so that his work can be recorded in Guinness World Records. (Aljazeera / Reuters).
