The flat on the second floor of Kramgasse No. 49 was rented by Albert Einstein from 1903 to 1905. It has been restored in the style of that period to reflect Einstein's stay in Bern. During this period he came up with his most famous works that changed the way we look at the world and universe. Namely, the theory of special Relativity, and the photoelectric effect ( which got him the Nobel prize).
During that time Albert worked in the Swiss patent office located in Bern as an assistant examiner.....
In this house, Albert lived with his first wife Mileva Marić and their son Hans Einstein (born in 1904).
This a photo of Albert with Mileva. They say that she helped him a lot with his early work and never gave her credit for it.
From his window....He Had a nice view...
Albert disk where he used to write his paper with the help of his wife.
In January 1896, with his father's approval, Albert renounced his citizenship in the German Kingdom of Württemberg to avoid military service. And in Feb 1901 he acquired the Swiss citizenship which he kept for the rest of his life. In the picture you can see his Swiss passport.
I recommend visiting Einstein house if you ever pass by Bern....
