The main thing is there is a link missing with Steem and outside world. And steem is not so much complex like other crypto, thanks to DApps and steemit.
If we figure out a way to take steem to the masses even if there is no professional marketing , we can get success in bring more people.
Only thing that hurts me is 50:50 split of rewards in HF21 😂 But we need to see how it will change the behaviours of people who use bidbots as expecting to be change.
As of now if you are worrying about 50:50 split of rewards, don't do it. Because we are all on same boat and still understanding how it will increase the curation of content. I am asked prominent people on steem and studied various witness posts. They are saying that
"Steem has great content and but no consumers. We need more consumers to curate the content so the good content which really adds value to block chain will prevail."
But I have doubts about it and only after update we can know how much it effects the middle class regular content generators with less steem power so here and ho don't have any support from whales.
But should we worry about it or contribute from our side to add value to the steem!?
• Are you sharing your content posted on steem to other social media platforms?
• How many new members you helped to onboard on the block chain?
• Do you cast your witness votes to the person you believe really active on block chain and helping minnows?
• Are you really utilising your 10 full votes per day by curating good content ?
• Do you encouraging minnows by delegating some steem power to avoid them to worry about RC problem?
These are few things which are simple and small but creates big impact over all the environment here.
These things will increase the organic engagement and promotion of steem on different platforms better.
It's still not late, reach out the witnesses you voted for and learn about the things they are working on. Be part of them to help them, it's a chance to decide whether they really need to be in top 20 witnesses or not.

If they say we have not enough users to curate then there is no other solution to do all for onboarding new people with the right marketing.
To force the few people which are on Steem to curate much more will not work.
Investors and most of the whales won't do that, most have already their circles or just not enough time to look for more content to curate.
Only marketing can help.
And making onboarding much easier.

Yeah tom, will these curation rewards make them do more curation work, I doubt that. This is really cutting the authors rewards for their hardwork. 25% is more than enough for the curators where they don't create any stuff.

A downvote on Steem is a real life punishment because it cuts the reward of the user.
some say the reward is only expected and yours after 7 days, but that's completely nonsense, every downvote cuts the reward in real time not after 7 days.
It should only be used for a very good reason like theft of images and text and abusive hate content.
To support more downvotes will lead much more to downvote content people don't LIKE.
