A letter of apologie for the immediate withdrawal of an invitation from its annual General Conference was submitted by the Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA) to Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
The NBA invited Governor el-Rufai, but revoked the invitation after its Kaduna chapter had ruled against the decision, as a guest speaker in the forthcoming meeting.
The association president, Paul Usoro, did however say on Friday in a statement that he regretted and accepted responsibility for what he called the governor as an unnecessary embarrassment.
Mr Usoro also on Friday refuted Mr El-Rufai's accusation of racial and religious prejudice.
Inclusion of Mr El-Rufai has triggered protests among many lawyers, many of whom threatened to withdraw their involvement if el-Rufai participate in the conference.
Various lawyers have also accused Mr El-Rufai of failing to stop the massacres in the Southern Kaduna.
This was based on concerns that Mr El-Rufai 's involvement was withheld by NBA leadership.
The Governor said the move was unreasonable and irrational in his reaction to the development. He accused the group of unilateral narrative
