Becoming an electrician is my childhood dream and even before now I have been making simple electrical connections, I have increased my experience when I went to my aunt place to learn how to install air conditioner and washing machine.
I am very happy to be part of this learning challenge, and I will make sure that I complete all the tasks God willing.
These tools are very important in performing electrical tasks. Below are their name and functions.
A - Analog AVO meter: Also know as a multimeter is used to measure electrical voltage and current.
As an electrician it is very important to have this tool because it is used to measure the electrical current in a place, sometimes we encounter low current situation and sometimes we encounter high current situation so as an electrician you will use this tool to quickly detect the current in that area so you will know what to do next.
Current I don't have a multimeter because the one I have was stolen but I have ordered for one and hopefully I will use it in our next class when needed, it is very cost though but I will make sure that I purchased it before we round of this learning challenge.
B - Allen key: This is the name that we call it here in Nigeria. It is mainly used by technicians for the opening of gas when installing an air conditioner.

They are also some nut that requires this tool to loosen, but I get to know about this when I started installing air conditioner.
C - Adjustable spanner: This is used to loosen any type of nut because it is adjustable and flexible.

I come to know about this spanner during installing of air conditioner, we use it to tight the kit to enables effective flow of gas from the indoor unit (condenser) to the indoor unit (compressor).
D - Star Screw Driver: This is compulsory for every electrical or technician because it is used to operate or work on (tight and loose) star screws.

E - Flat Screw-driver: This tool is used to loosen or tight ( operate ) flat screw, this is a very important tool in performing electrical related tasks, so you need to have it.
F Soldering iron: Though I haven't used this toll before but I have seen someone whoo used it to work on an air conditioner panel, it is also used to work on other electrical devices when need and it only operates when they is electrical supply, without electricity it doesn't operate.
But here in Nigeria, some dut to lack electricity, some electricians heat it on fire so as to make use of it.
G - Cutting pliers: As the name implies, this tool is used for cutting cables during electrical work. Some are hard and tougher to cut, so this tool is used mainly for them.
H - Pliers combination: This is the common pliers used by many electrical workers and technicians. It is used to hold electrical wires and other instruments used in electrical work.
I - Long nose pliers: This tool is used mainly for cable insulation, peeling, and also cutting wire for proper joining of cables during electrical works.
Check the presence of electricity in your home with a neon tester.
This problem potentially occurs sometimes, and this is where a tester becomes very important.
During my installation of air conditioner, i have encountered such a problem, and I started blaming myself for the wrong installation, not knowing that they were no current and I detect it with my tester.
This is the change over in my house so I will apply the tester to know if there's still electricity.
With the use of this tester i can confirm the presence of election in my home
What is the supply voltage of your home?
It would have been better if I had used a meter in performing this task, but unfortunately, I don't have a meter, and it is one of the things that delayed me from performing this task.
I have searched for it but couldn't find where to buy it, so I have ordered it online, and hopefully, in the next two weeks, I will receive it.
The supply voltage in my home is from 220V to 240V
Name the electrical devices in your home.
The electrical devices in my home are as follows
Electrical iron: This device is used for ironing clothes so as to make it look good, I can't wear my clothes without ironing it so I used this device almost everyday to make my clothes look good.
Hand mixer: This tool is used by my mother to mix her substance used for baking, it make It easier for her to do it manually.
Standing fan: This fan works only when there's electrical supply, and it rotates very well, and it blows cool breezes.

Stabilizer: This device is used to balance the voltage in our home, even when there's low current it will be able to carry other electronic device and if the current is high it will prevent other device from exploitation.
Television: This device is used to watch news and also movies in our home.
Go TV decoder: This device is connected with our television, and we recharge it once a month so as to enjoy unlimited channels.

Step 1: I bought a new socket today, and I quickly opened it, and then you can see it image below.
Step 2: I turned the back of the multi-socket and you can clearly see whare there is L which stand for line and then N which stand for neutral and then we also have earth but it isn't necessary.
The line cable is usually brown or red in colour.
The neutral cable is usually black or blue in colour.
The earth is usually yellow or green in colour.

I always observe safety precautions whenever i am working
Safety and precautions are very important in electrical work because some people who neglected this lost their lives during this process, and some get shocked by electricity.
So it is very important to be very vigilant when performing electrical tasks, try to use rubber hand gloves, helmets, coveralls, and safety shoes all the time.
Electricians normally climb ladder when performing tasks, and sometimes we might miss our steps and fall down, and thus will help us.
Try to use the right tools when performing electrical task, and also be careful when connecting cables so that they will not spark.
Try to use electrical switchgear when performing tasks so that it will help in preventing damage during electrical faults.
Most people electrical devices got damaged because they didn't install this toll in their home.
Try to be optimistic when performing electrical tasks, and also check again and again before conducting a test from your work.
