Results of the first week of mining Electroneum on a Samsung Galaxy S8+ / J5 | Mining Tips, Tricks and oddities | UPDATE: first payout received

in electroneum •  7 years ago  (edited)

After one week of using the Electroneum mining feature on a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and J5 i'm surprised about the amount of ETN it mined and in this post i'm sharing my results and other useful information related to mining with the Android app and how to keep the app mine.

The mining feature is a simulation and rewards the simulated miners with pre mined coins. This newly released Electroneum App for Android has beside the miner also a wallet to store your mined coins in and to be able to transfer coins to other wallets and exchanges.

My Setup

  • 1x Samsung Galaxy S8+ (Mining @ 50h/s)
  • 1x Samsung Galaxy J5 (Mining @ 14h/s)

Testing and useful information.

  • Power saving needs to be turned off for this specific app for it to continue to work in the background while not using your phone.
(Deselect the power saving setting, and add the app to the power saving list of excluded apps solves this issue)

  • i have had two devices mine in the same wallet, but i'm not yet sure about this is working as i intended, because it seems one of the two gets logged out of mining, after some time have passed. (i maybe will change this, and let them both mine in there own wallet)

  • It seems to be allowed to have 5 devices on one IP (but this information was about the conventinal mining and i'm not sure if it also counts for the simulated mobile mining) source

  • Not having a internet connect will stop the miner, when you (automatically) re-connected to the internet. the mining needs to be manually started again (it would be nice if it would restart automatically once the internet connection is back)

  • The App is not compatible with Android tablets, but if you get the APK file from your phone it should install on your tablet. (but this is tollerated, or will it result in a account or ip ban?)

  • Some people got banned from mining

  • Turning the miner off and back on seems to updated the pending balance.
Which indicates the displayed pending balance was not updated that frequently, and a stop/start of the mining feature seems to force a update of the pending balance you have mined.

  • The coins you mine go into your pending balance, at this moment, my Pending balance is not yet transferred to my wallet. multiple people write online about there pending balance have reached the minimum and above the 5 ETN payout, but didn't receive there balance into there wallets yet. though there are people who where in the Beta program that did receive there pending balance in there wallets.

  • After some time of mining the speed of the miner is going down a few h/s, starting and stopping the miner will bring back up the speed. (but it is probably better to not stop and start it, and keep it running instead)

  • Closing other apps you have open in the background does not seem to effect the h/s per second

  • Battery consumption is very minimal

  • There are around 50.000 active mobile miners

  • Apple version of the App is already submitted to the Apple store for some time and could be here any moment. "it's in Apple's hands"

  • "Electroneum listed on major exchanges" is mentioned on there roadmap for Q1 2018

  • "Mining" Results

I expected to get around 1 ETN a day, that estimation was based on the beta testers there results that i found online, and on the other hand we had a official document from 4 months ago "promising" much much more Electroneum coins a day, which seemed to good to be true, and things can change, i expected the numbers to be more towards what the beta testers where more recently getting.

During the first few days after the public release of the mining feature, the ETN team improved the payouts for there mobile miners with 300%

Now after one week of using the app and figuring out and reading about the above listed small hick ups and oddities (which resulted in some downtime), i now have at this moment a pending balance of 26.16 ETN (26.16 ETN : 7 days = 3.73 ETN on average per day)

+/- 3.73 ETN per day, with a current value of around 0.05 usd thats 0.1875 cents a day,(x365 days = 68.43 usd per year, ) (3.73 ETN per day x 365 = 1361 ETN coins per year!) that's a lot of ETN!, and specially if you keep in mind it is a simulated mining and does not drain your battery, Who doesn't want to have and own some free coins in that way?

(At the same moment i started the mobile mining i also started with conventional mining of ETN with Electroneum pool miner v1.2 and did not even get close to 1 ETN in 12 hours of mining on a core i7... not sure yet what the issue is because easyhash pool shows to expected to mine around 17 ETN a week.)

Now that i know how to keep the mobile apps mine i hopefully no longer need to babysit it by restart the mining activity, and this should lead to better results.

    • Are you using this simulated mobile miner application, what speed do you get on your device?

    • Did you already receive your first transfer into your wallet or does your mined coins also appear to be stuck in your pending balance?

    • What is your pending balance?

Update: Today (3/13) i have received the first pay out in my wallet of 33.13 ETN

Thanks so much for sharing! I'll jump on this if they ever make the app for iphone.

It should be here any moment, :) (that is if Apple doesn't ask for the app to be changed, because than it maybe will take even longer)

nice that you are sharing this info👍

Your welcome

Does it work on any other phones part from the s8 and j5? And does one have to purchase some harsh rate?

it works on any Android phone with Android 4.4 and above (not 100 % sure but i think i read that somewhere)

Just signed up, and yes it working on any android phone with android 4.4 and above as per the play store info. My mining speed is abit low 2H/s as am using a Huawei P8, which has lower computing power compared to the s8 and j5, will mine for a week and see the results, thank you for the info.

Looks like it's definitely worth doing as it doesn't put a drain on your phone. Just wish the IOS version would come out already!!!

Great. Thanks again

I am currently getting approx. 40h/s on a samsung S8. in a little over a week i now have 44 etn in my wallet. This is an interesting time and HODL would be in order for this year as it would appear that the possibility of ETN growing in value is high with more getting involved and more exchanges allowing it.

Update: Today i have received the first pay out in my wallet of 33.13 ETN

Thank you for great info my friend @techtek

Today (13/3) I've received my first payout in my wallet of 10.06 ETN. I've been 'minning' in my phone since the app was launched, I have a moto g4. Thanks for your tips.

Ever since I've got the email that the mobile app is live, I've been mining like crazy on my Galaxy S8+. I get constant 44 H/s sometimes even 50 which is awesome.
So yeah! Well played Electroneum team!

I hope you are happy.

Hi,
I can also confirm that Hash Rate dropped more than 50% on my S8 after updating to latest Android 8.0 Oreo update. From 47H/s to 17-20max H/s.

Is there perhaps an update coming from Electroneum fixing this?

Regards,
Narcis

It’s day 2 of our mobile miner launch and we’re almost at 50,000 users already. We’ve started to discover what mobi… twitter.com/i/web/status/9…

Hi, thanks for the post. I am using Samsung J7 (2016) which gives me a hash of approx 30 h/s but ETNs are still lying in the pending payouts (even after the min payout limit). Is there something that is required to be done or just 'wait an watch' ???

Hi thanks for your reply, The pending payout should be around 10 ETN but they are experiencing problems and therfore the payouts will stay in pending until they fixed the issue.

(also it seems they improved the mining speed for some devices, i now also get 30h/s on j5 2017 )
