Watercolor sketch in the museum of railway transport. Steam locomotive E 2450

in elegance •  7 years ago

Hello!)

In the previous post I wrote that I went to draw in the museum of railway transport.
We wandered long enough along the platforms, looking at locomotives, diesel locomotives, wagons that made their last stop at this station. Long chose what to draw, since time was limited, and around there were so many wonderful exhibits.
I chose one beautiful black locomotive E-2450.

The E (American) steam locomotives were delivered to the USSR from the USA in 1944-1947. They worked in the freight traffic on many roads, for example, at the Moscow-Kiev one in 1944-1949. Then they were increasingly used in Siberia and the Far East.
The steam locomotive E 2450 was built in 1944 at the Baldwin plant in Philadelphia. He worked at the Sverdlovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Far Eastern railways. The length of the locomotive is 22.2 meters. The maximum capacity is 2080 l / s, the coal reserve is 18 tons, the speed is 70 km / h.

I had a watercolor sketchbook and a mini-set of watercolors with which I decided to draw a sketch. I also discovered for myself the convenience of a brush with little tank, which was very convenient to use in street conditions. Now this is my creative marching mini-kit.

At first I quickly drew the contours with a pencil, circled it for accuracy with gray liner, filled the picture with color. In the end, I emphasized some lines with a thin black liner.

I think that it was a good choice. The painting comes out wonderfully. It reminds me of a book cover with the Hogwarts express. Even the style of painting matches the front of the the philosophers stone. Nicely done.

thank you very much)

Amazing art, Very nice work, keep it up dear.

thank you)

@keonella, you are talented and your work was amazing. When i saw that you only used 12 colors in your drawing? wow it really a wow.. like a magic, and able to came out such an amazing work. The art is similar with the object, the only difference was one is real and another one is drawing. :)
It took you how long to finish this piece? You must be practice a lot and keep up the good work.

thanks, I did a little sketch with watercolor, not more than half an hour for each drawing, since the time of visiting the museum was limited

That brush with the tank would be very convenient! You did a great job capturing this shiny black beauty with your watercolors! Nicely done! Congrats on your @curie vote!

thank you very much)

Those steam locomotives have a really long history of how they ended up there. You made a great choice, and you painted it beautifully, You got all the details on point. It looks like a reflection of the real thing, more like a photo...

I would have loved to see the different locomotives there, did you take photos of them? I think your English isn't bad...

thank you, I took some photos while I was at the museum, I'll try to upload them and my sketches in the next post

That will be great! looking forward to seeing them

Nice painting, I liked it a lot.

thanks)

Incredible!!! I net you could sell that as prints in the gift shop! :) you are very talented and thank you for sharing your gift with us

thank you very much!)

Very nice water painting it really looks like the model you used. Great work.i dont know if you heard the steam train horn....It is pretty impressive it is sooooo loud:)

Thank you! yes, when I was in this museum, I saw and heard a passing coal locomotive)

What a beautiful watercolor @kleonella! I like it better than the actual photo of the train :)

thank you very much)

You are most welcome @kleonella!

Very nice drawing, and I love the model :-)

thank you)

howdy from Texas kleonella! I love this post because the old steam engines are one of my favorite machines and you did a wonderful job in bringing out this one's strength and character!

Do you do alot of train paintings or do you just paint whatever you feel like? wonderful post!

thanks, I try to draw a variety of things, just this time I wanted to draw sketches of trains)

Nice to see watercolor painting @kleonella, I love hte intense colors and it seems you used awaterfilled brush for blending, this is very useful tool but sometimes I find that it worn quickly so you need to have few of them. The touch of green colour on front of locomotive is really good done, it is a mix of green and ocre :)

thanks, I just think about buying more such brushes but of other sizes, so that it would be more convenient to draw details

I can understand it is always the question what type of brush to buy, the size, the bristles. I have the same problem, but like I noticed recently you never have enouhg of htem :)

Good work! I liked your watercolor sketch. I wonder how much time you had to do it?.It is very good that you have given some information about this locomotive. I was interested in this historical reference. Thank you @kleonella !

thanks, one sketch took about half an hour)

I'm seeing a lot of watercolor works being upvoted by curie lately and this can be a source of envy at times since I fail at using watercolors consistently :P

Amazing work on the coloring and lighting for the piece. It must have been difficult waiting for the paint to dry before starting about blending effect. :D

thanks, I also like to draw quickly, outdoors watercolor dries much faster, so it is good for plein air)

Well you just made it sound so simple to put that piece together.... perhaps for a very trained hand like yours. It is a great rendition of some awesome machinery that really helped to open the entire world to may new things. You are very skilled at the craft and the thin lining moving to a more obscure fade was a very nice touch to a great piece.

thank you very much!
I am very happy if my posts are interesting and useful to anyone)

lol, this platform is really good and giving appreciation for art and the artist. It's one of the things that I like about it.

What a great looking train :D. You certainly captured the likeness of this vehicle and adding a lot of artistic refinement to the final painting. The result looks much better than the original photo, very nicely done.

Congratulations on your curie vote ^_^.

Wow kleonella, every time I fall in love more than what can be achieved with watercolors, especially in this platform many artists are sharing impressive things. You leave me speechless because you have a very good technique, but I believe that in art the best thing is the possibility of making the audience feel your own passion. I love your train.

Blessings for u!

LF

thank you)

Very nice drawing, @kleonella <3 I saw the green locomotive one before and this one is a gorgeous rendition of a very classical looking train :D If I thought about trains in my head, it looks like this ! Very wonderfully painted <3

thank you)

Hi @kleonella, your train is very realistically drawn and painted and it looks beautiful. Majestically black. I love the olden days locomotives. They are a classic to behold. And your mini kit is cool. It is so convenient and fun to be able to just draw and paint anywhere you like. And you did it in less than half hour! Think I would have taken the whole day and still it wouldn't look anything close to what you have beautifully created. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

thank you very much)
