Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and the Boring Company, had a huge 2017. But it's not all highs for the multi-billion dollar executive. In fact, in mid-2017 he actually responded to a tweet saying "the reality is great highs, terrible lows, and unrelenting stress. Don't think people want to hear about the last two." Here is a quick recap of Musk's year:
January 23: Musk met with President Trump at the White House along with founder of Under Armour Kevin Plank and founder of Dell - Michael Dell.
February 27: Elon Musk announces that SpaceX has plans to fly two individuals, whose name's haven't been released, around the moon sometime in 2018. Word on the street is it is founder of Virgin Group - Richard Branson.
April 4: Tesla's stock rises about $300 per share giving the company a market cap of roughly $51 billion! This passes Germany's BMW, General Motors, and Ford Motor Co.
April 28: Musk announces that he is now working on the Boring Company - a company that intends to reduce traffic and congestion by using underground tunnels for transportation. The inspiration came from sitting helplessly in traffic…
June 1: Musk leaves Trump's board after Trump announces he is pulling the United States out of the Paris accord - which is a pact that includes every other country in the world in a joint effort to fight climate change.
June 15: Musk gives his followers a sneak peek of how he plans to colonize Mars. He intends the 80-day trip to be really fun with "zero-gravity games and entertainment! In order to keep costs relatively low - Musk plans on having a ship blast off from the earth and another one waiting in space that will act as the main ship. This way there doesn't have to be a huge ship built that has enough gas to get us to Mars. Musk envisions thousands of ships in space in the future transporting people to Mars.
June 28: Musk lets his followers in on the action via Twitter that he has begun digging tunnels under Los Angeles using the Boring Company's own machine. I'm willing to guess this is a pretty boring machine.
July 9: The first Model 3 leaves the Tesla assembly line. Guess whose it was… Elon's!
September 29: At the International Astronautical Congress in Australia Musk explains an update to his Mars plan. He mentions that he plans to land two spaceships on Mars by 2022 and get the pizza joints ASAP!
October 2: After Musk reveals he wants Tesla to produce 1,500 Model 3's in September they only produced 260 vehicles in the whole third quarter. Que - unrelenting stress.
November 16: Tesla announces the Semi cargo vehicle that is electric powered and travels 500 miles on a single charge. Some of the world's biggest corporations are already on the waitlist for these vehicles.
