Embedding video and copyright

in embedding •  7 years ago

Well, my understanding of the law is that if you embed a YouTube video into your Steemit article or post, then you are not violating any copyright laws inasmuch as you are sending business in the direction of the person who owns the copyright to that video. However, if you download that same video on your website, then you are violating the law inasmuch as the content creator is not benefiting from it in any manner and is, in fact, losing business. I'm still researching this topic, but I am glad that you have brought it up inasmuch as the law on this appears to be so vague.
