Original inspiration for this work came from a desire to make something very colourful using very wide strokes and a 'starry night' palette. The title was realised from overall textural and formal qualities that are reminiscent of paintings from the early turn of the 20th century. While the image lacks any reference to the human form, the movement of the strokes brought to my mind the ballet work Fernand Léger and Dudley Murphy. Its logical conclusion is the emergent memory of the ballet as unconsciously reproduced by myself.
