Emotions are important feelings that all of us have. Whether you have to build your career or you want to thrive in your relationship, being able to recognize an emotion plays a vital role. Not only does being able to recognize is essential role here, but detection also. So according to experts, you should have the potential to do both: recognition, which is being to recognize what kind of emotion is being displayed; and detection, which is able to detect if any emotion is being displayed.

Why they persuade you to do both is this helps you in danger. We should be aware of what is happening next to us. We have been told to develop our peripheral vision while driving, which is able to detect the corresponding danger that is happening some angle to you but not just in front of you. However, some people fail to recognize and detect some facial expressions due to some health conditions, for instance, autism and schizophrenia. Therefore, a team of researchers from the University of East Anglia decided to work on this matter so that they can create some potential treatment for those who are suffering from these conditions.

”Published in the journal PLOS ONE, this new study by researchers in UEA's School of Psychology for the first time investigated how recognition and detection of six basic emotions -- happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, and surprise -- changes when viewed centrally and up to 30 degrees in peripheral vision.”

The salient feature of this study is to identify the fear emotion, which is an important emotion that is difficult to be perceived in peripheral vision, as well as it is not well-recognized emotion. According to the scientists, one should have the promise to detect the emotion in the first place in order to escape from the danger. Lead author Dr Fraser Smith says that there is a special brain mechanism that is linked to emotion detection.

To fathom how facial expressions are perceived outside the central vision, an experiment has been conducted in which 14 participants were involved who were displayed different emotion’s images which were placed centrally and to the left and right of about 15 to 30 degrees for recognition task, whereas, they were asked to detect an emotion, meaning they had to decide if the face has shown any emotion.

They found out that fear, unlike happiness and surprise which is both detection and recognized emotions, is more detection emotion than a recognized emotion, which is a good thing that we human are beings adapted for. This study helps the researchers to detect what underlying system of the brain has been affected, thereby creating potentially better treatments.

This is a very interesting piece of information you are sharing with us. Thanks a lot for giving it exposure through Steemit.com I couldn't help but be reminded of the fear face seen at the beginning of Apocalypto, when the fleeing tribe comes across the hunting tribe heading back home...

Namaste :)

love the way u talked about the fear emotion. beautiful right up
