We develop patterns and norms that have influence on our emotional and physical state. The outside expression of our existence is always manifesting the internal realities.
Unfortunately, many of us try and manipulate our external realities without actually engaging the reality of our internal state.
How you grid, filter, experience everything going on around you today is running through the internal framework of reality that you have built. Good, bad and ugly, you are ultimately the boss of it. Not to say that that all your circumstances are within your control, rather how those circumstances impact your life is within your control.
For example, try and laugh right now.
Can you? Why?
What makes you laugh? Now go find a 18 month old and ask them to laugh...
What changed?
Over the course of your life you build norms on how to grid everything going on around you.
Most people can not laugh at the drop of a dime because they have allowed thier circumstances to shut down thier ability to hold real joy. I have been through incredible tragedy, as many of you reading this, however I have refused to allow that tragedy to hold my life hostage. I embrace real joy and peace on the daily because I have trained myself to...
If you want to change it you have the power to. I find our ability to complain, whine, compare, mope, veg out, are easy. They are weird forms of control that gradually destroy our internal state of reality and lead us to an external reality of being fat, apathetic, irritable and generally purposeless...
The good news is we have the ability to change.
It's not over night - you have taken a lifetime to build out the framework you are currently in. And it will take time and consistency to take down that framework to rebuild something you like.
Start Today
- Get your blood pumping (I would suggest turning some jams on, kinda loud, and doing a little jig - Jumped out the Whip by Tedashii is a great track to help you with this...singing acapella is great too)
- Now realize you are smiling. Legitimately, realize that you are smiling.
- Identify the things ruling your emotion. Write them out and see them.
- Ask yourself what you can do about those things today. Write them out.
- Now in a loud voice declare "I am a man/women of courage!" and then go and do what you wrote out.
- Do it again tomorrow.
- Keep showing up.
Our emotions are incredible - they are powerful, they can rule you or you can rule them. It takes time and courage - engage today!
Live Big, Choose Greatness, Dominate Life...Today
Good advice, and also good to encourage people to write things down.

I always tell people that they have control of their emotions.
If you start your day thinking that you hate being at work, you aren't going to enjoy your day. Come in think of how lucky you are and have a positive attitude.

emotions are powerful when you can have control over them!

It is Viktor Frankl I think, who said "between stimulus and response, there is a gap and in that gap lies our power to choose." Reading this post, I see that gap is where we win or lose the battle with our emotions. When we lose, we simply react to the stimuli. When we win, respond in more objective and profitable ways.

Very good post @breakthrough. Most of the times feelings are deceiving , if we let our circumstances get thru our nerves we won't be able to become the best version of ourselves. :-) thank you for this post
