Liputan6.com, Colombo - President RI Joko Widodo confirmed that Indonesia wants to participate in infrastructure development in Sri Lanka.

It was expressed Jokowi in the presence of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at breakfast together at Temple Trees, Colombo, Thursday, January 25, 2018.

First Lady of Indonesia Iriana Joko Widodo and Sri Lankan PM Maithree Wickramasinghe's wife were present in the breakfast. "Indonesian state-owned companies have made contacts including for the construction of flyovers, connecting the bridge New Kelani Bridge - Rajagiriya," said Jokowi, as quoted from the official release of the Presidential Secretariat RI (25/1/2018).

PM Wickremesinghe welcomes Indonesia's desire to participate in infrastructure development in Sri Lanka. Moreover, the state budget of Sri Lanka is very limited.

"We support the desire of Indonesia, we can explore through the financing of Public Private Partnership," said the Sri Lankan Prime Minister.

On the same occasion, President Jokowi also wants the procurement plan of the RI train to Sri Lanka can be immediately followed up. Yesterday, the President, Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka said that for the first phase Sri Lanka will buy 60 cars of production train PT INKA Indonesia.

"The technical team will discuss the procurement of train carriages so it can be realized," said Jokowi.

Maritime Cooperation RI - Sri Lanka

President Jokowi also supported Wickremesinghe's proposal at a bilateral meeting yesterday in which he attributed the importance of maritime cooperation.

"The cooperation needs to be done with respect to international law and based on the spirit of cooperation and inclusive," said President Jokowi.

Regarding the blue economy cooperation, the President will push together in IORA. "I really hope that economic cooperation can be realized," said President Jokowi.

After breakfast, President and Mrs. Iriana will continue their journey to New Delhi, India using the Presidential plane of Indonesia-1 through Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka.

Also present was accompanied by President and Mrs. Iriana in the morning meal, among others Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Special Staff Coordinator President Teten Masduki, Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka I Gusti Ngurah Ardiyasa .
