Avoid evil: Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice

Perverse joy is a temptation, a form of passive hate, a sin, that we must avoid, we must persevere in the good, maintaining the trust in the Lord: "Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them", Proverbs 24:17-18.
The Bible condemns all forms of hatred: "You have heard that it was said, ´Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.´ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.", Matthew 5:43-45.
There is a time for everything, the Bible explains to us: "The LORD says to my lord: ´Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet´", Psalm 110:1.
We must not wish harm from anyone but we must understand that behaviors have a retribution, evil returns sooner or later to those who commit it.

The providence of God blesses the upright, the assertive, and the edifying; and punishes those who practice error, those who are destructive and unjust:
"Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.
For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed;
the offspring of the wicked will perish.
The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever." Psalm 37:27-29.
The Bible explains that adversities exist and it is logical to have enemies, also we cannot be good to everyone, that is why it is essential to accept with an equal spirit both the good and the bad that comes to us. And this in spirituality has a name: having fear of God, which is constancy, firmness, equanimity, stability, devotion.
