Who is my enemy?

We often fight with the perception of what is wrong and what is right in business as in life and the action of another can sometimes be seen as the definition of their whole being. If that action is somehow contrary to our beliefs, our values or even to our goals, we not only define the action as a problem, we choose to see the arbitrator as our enemy.

Why we think in this way, I cannot tell you but is it wise? An action does not make a person or a business, a good deed or a bad deed does not make a human good or bad so instead of judging those around us, maybe we should consider who our true enemy really is.

Without compassion, understanding, tolerance, empathy and forgiveness, we cannot move forward. Our bitterness and resentment may hurt those who have wronged us but it will hurt us more. Let us see a human as a whole and an action only as a part so that we are no longer in a battle against our biggest enemy… ourselves.

It's all so easy with digital media to jump to conclusions without understanding the whole picture; what's really happening, what has motivated that person to act in that way?

An image accompanied by a misleading caption can take the story in one direction, without truth or merit.

And it's no good blaming fake news or social media, we are each responsible for our own responses, posts and comments.

Before you judge, research! Do due diligence, what is actually happening??

I think that one off actions or 'bad deeds' do not define a person, but consistent actions do. I believe we can all be our own worst enemy at times, and yes, we should practise compassion and try to see things from another person's perspective.

With so much information available it's hard not to jump to the wrong conclusion every once and a while. But I do agree that it is incumbent for us all to do research.
