Green Energy not so Green

Net Energy Losers
While the concept of wind powered energy is enticing the truth of the matter is that these windmills often use more electricity then what they generate.
In my local area from April 6th to Oct 10th, there was not enough wind to generate any electricity.
When measuring output as a percentage of capacity over an entire day, in 2016 there were 7 days that averaged 30% capacity over a 24 hour period.
Over the year average output was 2.2% of capacity. 11% is needed to break even.
Not to mention the toll on the bird population.
I do know that great tax breaks were provided to the corporations building and installing these windmills. Government does not pick winners very often.

You see, we the people are only allowed stupid and expensive green energy. All other forms are outlawed or regulated to death.

And take for instance, reducing rotor speed of windmills to save birds. Is it to save birds or is it to destroy windmill electric production?
They say they only have to reduce the wing tip speed down from 70mph to 60mph. And that seems like only a little change, but it effectively decreases power output by 50%.

The govern-cement, the lap-dogs of the energy companies are not for green energy. They are firmly against it. Even when they spend money on their pet projects like solar roadways (a colossal waste of money) they are doing everything they can to inhibit green energy.

To your point, the government shouldn't be in the business of energy anyway. Let markets decide. If enough people wanted solar power, the demand would spur innovation and drive price down.

Totally agreed with you on this one! Government should not be competing with private sector companies and businesses. Too much corruption among people in government.
