Energy farming

in energy •  7 years ago

With the decentralization of energy and the possibility to automate the exchange of electrons using distributed ledger technologies (DAG's, blockchains, etc.) energy farming may become a significant economic activity in the future.

This type of farming will even be feasible in cities.

Energy farming will likely add very significant in rural and remote areas where the grid does not currently extend or is currently unreliable.

Smaller rural grids between neighbors will be possible in future which will allow diversification of activities.

A renewable energy farmer may maintain a small solar farm or bio-gas generator plant to supply power to his or her neighbors to enable their own economic activities.

Solar PV does require some specialized maintenance, but something like bio-gas plant is a bit more complicated.

Simply putting a solar panel out on the lawn is not sufficient. They need to be cleaned regularly to generate at optimum capacity.

Grass and other vegetation also needs to be kept in check so that it doesn't shade the panels and also to prevent damage from seasonal fires in the vicinity of the panels and cabling.

IOT enabled meters wired up to a Distributed ledger will then automate value exchanges, billing and accounting.

Yes, solar + decentralization will be interesting.

Great idea and intention by the way it will be revolutionary and can be milestone in the energy development.

It will be interesting as soon as the new technolegy Solargas will be available. It menas that all the energy created by solarpower, can be transfered into gas as a storag and used later. The future is near my friends. Love the post! Upvoted and resteemed it. @leserge

Very interesting, but sounds not real even in a coming decade, thanks!

I don't think so @equites. First blockchain-based solutions in the energy sector are already on the market. An up-to-date market overview of blockchain applications in the energy industry (with a focus on Germany) and the companies behind it is provided by the continuously updated blockchain-radar (BDEW and PwC).

Blockchain in the energy sector will be my main topic on steemit.

We still just to dependent on fuel if you we can make up our minds on what side of the fence we want to be on things will sart to happen so much quicker. Legislation/policy also tends to go for the mechanism where they have interest in. Great article

Nice topic and interesting as well. i can add that if we could able to transfer such energy from one planet in our solar system to another, then we can do all of these projects on Venus as it receives more of solar energy than that of our planet.

We already have energy transfer in the form of sunlight

Sure! However, that is only during the day time (24hrs). but Venus have longer day time than our planet have (2,802 hrs).

Very interesting idea. It will be years before we see it on a scale like this but having the vision for it now just let's you know how close the future is!

thats good idea

Recycle energy safe the earth too. Cheaper too..

good post

@sme said: "IOT enabled meters wired up to a Distributed ledger will then automate value exchanges, billing and accounting.". I agree with you. On steemit I want to blog about blockchain in the energy sector. https://steemit.com/energy/@renewable/blockchain-technology-is-no-longer-just-hype-in-the-energy-industry

I like this idea - one great benefit for small rural communities will be their energy independence, which can be only advantageous in times of extreme weather events. It will also possibly provide more job opportunities for these communities.
